Pre-order, and this will be a blind buy for me, despite hearing fantastic things about this movie over the last 20+ years, I have yet to sit down and watch it.

So with this new 4k Steelbook release, seems like a golden opportunity that I am unable to pass up.

Its lovely isn't it? That new steelbook can't hold a candle to it! Ill be getting the amaray as cheap as possible to go in this one - along with the old DVD SE extras disc obviously.

Yes, I much prefer it. The biggest factor even beyond the steelbook art and the 4K picture in my opinion is the Atmos soundtrack. Even previous CODECs were reference level, with M&C my go-to film for audio. The ship noises, creaking and whatnot, sea noises, storm noises, dialog and beautiful Bach pieces on violin and cello make this an audio masterpiece. Can't wait to hear how it sounds in Atmos.

Still not a fan of 36.99 for this , but definitely better than I excepted.
Helped that I also had 32 dollars in credit that brought my price down to $6.63

The quality control mechanism for the production & shipping of these steel-books is most likely located on the planet Dummluck.
Hopefully some company like Nova might put out a flawless steel with this movie in the near future.
Or a nice full-slip package maybe.

Anybody successfully order this thing from Bull Moose yet? It lets me put in my cart but then removes it every time at checkout

Guess I’m not the only one. BM must have the stock set to 0.

If they aren't showing any available check out one of the retailers I listed in my posting, as some still show available for pre-order. I am a bit surprised that some still do but I have a feeling most retailers are simply taking any and all pre-orders that they can and then when they get their actual allotments in for processing they will then have to allocate their pre-orders so there could be cancellations. Hopefully that isn't the case and everyone will get their pre-order but I won't be shocked if some orders get cancelled.

I had preordered The Departed steelbook from Bull Moose and they ended up cancelling it. It was sold out everywhere by then. They’ve been good since thankfully. I’m surprised at the demand for Master and Commander. I never realized it was so popular even though I enjoyed it far more than Kingdom of Heaven (theatrical cut) when it first came out.

A lot of people have been waiting for M&C, I am surprised the pre-orders are still up there at sites but I just feel many are just taking pre-orders regardless and will simply cancel orders once the allocations occur, IF any, that is. With three weeks from the initial announcement to release, those SteelBooks have more than likely been printed and prepping to ship to retailers, so I have to think demand will outweigh the supply at first, but more will eventually get printed and released if the first wave gets sold out.

I was waiting to order this from Atomic Movie Store or Orbit, but seeing as they only listed the UK import versions so far, and other larger retailers are selling out, I bit the bullet and ordered from Movies Unlimited.

Maybe a glitch but I noticed this morning that the 4K SteelBook listing on both Movies Unlimited and Deep Discount was removed from their sites. I would think if they had both sold out would have at least said that but the product page would remain up but both sites have wiped it off their sites, for now, at least.

Freaking Barnes & Noble is the most expensive option, of course.
If it weren't for their Criterion Collection sales, I would really despise this company.

That is why I am trying to keep my links up to date in case people didn't know about they can easily click a link to take themselves directly to the product page. The lowest I have seen as $37.99 so the Amazon and Walmart prices aren't bad either. Amazon and Target have sold out a few times only to relist more. I would say grab one now while you can in case they oversell on the-orders but more will more than likely follow later down the road if that is the case.

Score! Got it.

I've never fully seen it. Just bits and pieces. Sucks that it looks like that making of documentary didn't get tagged along. Alas.

To be honest I have never seen it. I wanted to but missed the theatrical run, bought the Blu-ray when it came out but never viewed it. I am way behind in my movie watching, so as I did when Blu-ray came out and upgraded from DVD, I have been upgrading all my Blu-rays to 4K and I know I will like the film so I pre-ordered as well. I guess I just want to help people out in not having to search everywhere for retailers carrying it and want people to get it at regular price rather than on eBay where there are bound to be resellers especially if preorders get allocated. I know it was like that with Tombstone and KoH, it may be that with M&C or there could be enough for the demand at launch.

Never seen this one, however, it looks like a movie that is right up my alley. Plus, it has a good reputation and a great looking steel. Pre-ordered on Walmart
