Many cartoons repeated in the first and fourth seasons. It’s how they were in their original broadcasts, and that’s how they’re appearing on BD (and how they did on DVD). So maybe they’ve taken that into account with the price break…

Those prices are going to be a hard sell for a lot of people. The good news is, we get the entire series. What people may not realize is that there are other characters included in the series (i.e., Yogi Bear and Pixie & Dixie (mice)). This is going to be a great set.

$70? Yikes. Yes, that is an intimidating price tag, imho, for this. I would gladly pay $15-20 for the first season or two, but not sure I would ever get through all 2,175 minutes of material over 11 discs! Definitely on my "if there is ever an insane sale on this set, then I will get it" list. Must be nirvana, though, for hard core fans.

There are 68 half-hours episodes. Works out to approximately 6-7 per disc, which can fit on a BD-50 fine.

There should be roughly 3 hours and 17 mins of content on each disc, and the recent Looney Tunes Collector's Choice and Collector's Vault discs have had about three hours of content a piece.

It all has to do with bitrate + the fact that they're using dual-layer 50GB discs for most of these.

Think at least for myself this leaves only Squiddly Diddly, The Hillbilly Bears, Atom Ant ,Secret Squirrel show & Jabberjaw that I would love blu-rays of from HB via Warner Archive.

Still hoping for Tom n Jerry part 2 and More Woody Woodpecker from Universal .
Of course more Looney Tunes !

At least we know why they hadn't put out animation in a while. They wanted to clear a runway for Huck so it could do the best numbers it can.

The Huck DVD was hurt a lot by being released in close proximity to Yogi and other classic cartoon DVDs so the lack of competition should help.

I tend to agree, $70 for 11 discs in HD is a great price. I bet the pre-order might even drop $5-10 before release date, but we'll see. I think putting the whole things out instead of season or volume sets is the way to go.

Yogi has always been more popular than Huck. It didn't take long for Huck to turn into Yogi's supporting character in later projects. I'm hoping we get The Yogi Bear Show this year, but would be ok if they didn't put anything new animation wise out in September top give Huck as much of a boost as possible. With such a large set, it almost feels like a few animated releases instead of just one. Wouldn't be sad that said for a back-to-back-to-back release of animated projects after that in the final months of the year.

I've always found it pretty odd that Huck's rep has diminished so much since his heyday, and also wondered why they never ever tried to keep him more relevant over the decades with at least a couple specials and movies over the years other than the one movie in 1988. Visually he's a pretty distinctive character (I mean it's a blue dog with a southern accent) and his laid back easygoing charm should have carried over to later generations.

My understanding is that this set was supposed to release a few months earlier but was delayed pretty late to add a few more commercials

That's very good to know.

WAC is going all out on Huck. If they're going the extra mile, it'll be real exciting to see what they're able to pull off for The Bugs Bunny Show when that finally comes out.

After a few months without animated content, this is a great announcement! Huckleberry Hound is definitely one of the better HB cartoons. Keep em coming!

From the Extra Podcast:

According to Feltenstein, the original closing credits are in B&W.

The packaging will be an elite case similar to Cheyenne. One case containing Season 1, one having Seasons 2 and 3, and one having Season 4.

Every extra is ported over, except for the pilot reconstruction featurette. Feltenstein chose not to port it himself because it wouldn't make sense if everything were basically reconstructed on the Blu-ray.
