I would assume no as Wedding hit theaters summer of 2003. Wedding has never had a good presentation on any home video format. 88 did wonders with the first two films, so I was bummed when Wedding went to Blu-ray only.
Wedding has digital credits and text, so yeah there was indeed a DI, likely made for the DVD master then just recycled for the BD.

To be fair, I'm an idiot and have no idea what the post process for these films was like and what materials/elements might be available. That being said, the digital intermadiate for Wedding was done by EFILM, who also produced the DIs of 8 Mile and The Bourne Supremacy for Universal, roughly in the same period, so the results may vary, I guess. They also did Cinderella Man, which has an upcoming 4K disc from Universal, and they did Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind -- which Kino disc does not look too good.

No, not an idiot, but it generally follows that a movie finished on a DI doesn't often have a cut negative, the lack of which never completely rules out a rebuild but it makes it far more expensive to collate all the individual shots and edit them back together (then there's the question of what do you do with any digital VFX, titles, editorial effects etc) than either scanning the cut neg or simply upscaling the full DI. Funny thing is, Universal were better than most at doing a cut neg alongside the DI finish during this period so Wedding may well have a cut neg somewhere, as 8 Mile did. And as Cinderella Man has a negative cutter listed amongst cast and crew then that might be another native 4K transfer.

Wedding ALSO has a negative cutter listed in its credits, just checked.

Just received my 88 Films deluxe edition of American Wedding, and though is an improvement of the old VC-1 encode, as is now AVC encode, this not a remaster like Pie 1 & 2. Happy to still have all 4 films in the Deluxe edition, just a shame Pie 3 & 4 aren't 4K

The Universal BDs of all four movies were AVC encoded.

I like all 4 films and would prefer a box set with all of them. Guess it isn't happening for now. I'm holding out on Dirty Harry for a while to see what WB does with that series. I'm like others, I'd prefer a whole series to be released at once but I know sometimes it takes longer to do the other movies in a series depending on what they are working with.

The original UK version of Wedding was VC-1, so 88 films version is a slight upgrade to AVC encode and a slightly higher bit rate.

I think the standard for the first film was announced before the LE sold out and came pretty quickly.

I already have the UK version, but i'm interested in seeing how the US version compares. If they are the same i'll probably just wait for the US version of AP2 instead of importing.

THese movies need a box set. All of them are bangers. When the first movie came out I watched the DVD too many times to count. The movie was so realistic in how it represented teen and high school antics. My friend group felt so similar to the boys in the movie. Even the one who becomes obsessed with kama sutra. I still love this movie.

I'll wait for a box set. If Wedding/Reunion never come I'll at least wait for 2.

Surprisingly I received my copy of American Pie Wedding today after I placed my order in February. I got my email on Monday saying that my order was dispatched from Amazon UK. Originally this was supposed to be delivered next Tuesday but DHL delivered it earlier this afternoon. I honestly forgot about pre-ordering this but also was surprised to receive it.

Glad they included the blu as it ports over all the extras. I have the 88 4K and was missing the 3hr long documentary.
