Why not put both cuts of each film on there? Then everyone would be happy but nope. Stupid.

Well I guess I'll just stick my unrated blu-ray discs into the new steelbook and call it a day

And IV and V as well, especially V where they took out almost all the gore compared to the unrated.

Add VI as well, especially with the finale.

At the bare minimum the unrated cuts should be on the blu-ray. HD-ready copies already exist so this is just a bizarre choice.

If they’re not going to place the unrated cuts on 4K, go the Kino Lorber route where the theatrical cut gets the 4K disc and the unrated cut gets the Blu-ray.

But I agree on 3 and definitely on 5 that the Unrated may be better overall (it definitely is on 5.) But 2, 4 and 6 the theatricals are much better put together. I got chills with that.

The problem often with the Unrated versions here is not what they add but what they remove or change. The theatrical ending on 3 is so much better than the Unrated (which is the worst version of the ending out of the three.)
When I saw III in theaters, that "boom to black" cut before the credits was everything, especially when we all thought it to be a trilogy-capper.

The Unrated cut has a stupid "fade to white," and if DLB thought that it somehow had a greater lasting impact ending on a gory shot, I think he's mistaken. The real impact is seeing a character's reaction to said gory shot, which the theatrical cut provides.

I'm not even going to get into the Director's Cut. There are personal preferences obviously, but I don't share those with others who prefer it.

As for The Rack, I know the sequence is different between theatrical and Unrated (arm-leg-arm-leg versus arm-arm-leg-leg), but if memory serves the leg snap shot in the theatrical looks more practical, and less CGI-ish. I like how much time they spend in the Unrated version, though.

Like all of the films, there is a blend between the two cuts which would make them best, but I tend to lean toward theatrical if I have to choose (except for the first film, and I'll have to pick and choose from the other films where need be). Saw II Unrated is just so butchered and sloppy, though. I'm glad we're getting the theatrical, but wish we got the old LGF logo with it since it segways right into that green room opening.

Hot take here but part II is actually my favorite Saw movie, even more than part 1. However, I wouldn't get a release that doesn't offer multiple cuts of it on 4K or at least the unrated cut on BD.

We all know Lionsgate will release a box set at some point with the unrated cuts in 4K so no need to buy these releases.

Releasing them individually would have been perfect for me as I'm only interested in the original run of the franchise, 1-7. I already have the first film unrated on 4K and only needed 2-7 unrated.

EDIT: Unrated cuts will be included on the Blu-rays per Cliff from Lionsgate.

Unrated cuts of Saw II, III, and IV will be included on their respective Blu-rays now. New AVC Encodes, Lossless audio (the previous discs for Saw II and III were MPEG2 and lossy DTS-HR audio).

The original plan was to prioritize the new 4K theatrical cut master (supervised and approved by Darren Lynn Bousman) on the Blu-ray as that was deemed to be the better quality version overall, but after being called lazy all day, the studio has been working in overdrive to make sure these releases aren't "dogass."

You screamed... they listened. Spread the word.

unless the 4k's themselves have the unrated versions easy skip. Already own the bluray, dont need to spend almost 40$ on a sdr bluray that i already own (even if the new sdr blu looks better, not for 40)

I agree. I'm still skipping these releases. Just wanted to put the info out there.

You do you, but if they do the Kino route, I would buy these in a heartbeat regardless. IV onwards those blurays still hold. And if they put the AVC onto II-III and the lossless audio, then yeah, I would be a very happy customer.

- The making of Saw II - An inside look at the prodcution of the film
- Mini Game

4K gets the theatrical cut, while the bluray includes the unrated/director's cut.
