I don't see Kaleidescape supplanting 4K UHD Blu-rays. If anything, Apple/FAH would, but 4K UHD discs are going to be propped up by the collector's market for some time. If Sony and/or Panasonic discontinue players, then I'll start worrying.

The only people cheering for the end of UHD BD are those who have tried to settle for online movie streaming compressed to the point of being viable over wifi.

I have more movies in iTunes (1470) than I do on UHD BD (981) but I don't buy virtual goods anymore. I just redeem the codes that come with my discs that are given for the fair price of free.

I'm ready for whatever the future of media is but I hope we don't have to settle for compressed garbage because people don't care enough to want quality.

I would be more likely to buy digital movies and tv if you could save them offline without the DRM like you can with music. Yes I know there are apps out there that allow you to do this, but they cost a lot of money.
