You have some that is in desperate need of restoration, like Wave and one of my favorites, Birthday.
If memory serves correct, "Wave" was part of a Sato retrospective in Japan a few years ago. The source was a 16mm print I believe. I double dare the Pink Line to release "Wave" and/or "Horse Woman Dog".

Are there plans to have Pink Line releases from the 70s as well?

Based off what I read, it appears as though the Pink Line is going to take a deep dive into the Satō catalog. I have a hunch we’ll see HWD as well as stuff like Lolita: Vibrator Torture, which is essential Satō. I believe VS has the balls to release these films.

The current video edition of "Lolita: Vibrator Torture"( Impulse Pictures dvd) looks absolutely horrible. It definitely needs an upgrade.

I agree, it needs a loving upgrade. Going off the trailer for Satō volume one, it looks like VS has fully committed to giving these films the proper release they deserve. If they do release LVT (and I’m pretty sure they will), I have no doubt it will look like a million bucks.

The fact that the Pink Line launched mere hours ago, and this official thread is already three pages deep in discussion, truly warms my heart and gives me high hopes for the success of the sublabel.

I have a DVD-R of this, with NO subs, & would happily upgrade this to a proper release that's NOT shitty like the Synapse release is from what I've read. I'd like VS or 88 films to release some of the Japanese Nunsploitation films they did.

Monthly drops would be optimal.

We aren't getting ahead of ourselves here, there's plenty coming but not monthly. At least not yet.

I'm unfamiliar with the genre (let alone these specific titles) but I haven't seen this much buzz around a release in a long time. Excited to check these out.

Hisayasu Satō’s body of work has been almost entirely ignored (a story all too true for pink films in general) here in the West. A quality release of any of his works, let alone what looks to be the first entry in a definitive retrospective, is cause for celebration.

You’ll be glad you picked these up

Sorry to ruin the party, but some (don't know if all) of the images used to illustrate this box set seem to belong to another "Celluloid Nightmares" (alternate title for "Re-Wind) movie, the one directed by Daisuke Yamanouchi in 1999, rather than the Sato's one from 1988... Just compare the image from below with the one showing at Mubi for this film.

This is a big screw-up for an edition called "The Films of Hisayasu Satō", and makes me think twice about all the reportedly care and effort put into bringing these movies a new life to a bigger audience.

Good catch Doe Lecter! I hope it's not too late to change the image on the package. I don't mind waiting if it can be done.
