with all of that said...it is still quite an accomplishment for such an old film. just hope more older films can take the time and at least do as well as halloween did as far as restoration.

Watched "Day of the Dead" two nights ago it was great (my favorite Romero) but to be honest I could have lived with my standard dvd upverted to 1080. I also bought Dawn, Evil Dead, Halloween and the two Masters of Horror but haven't watched them yet.

That's kind of how I felt after watching Halloween blu ray. I guess I had too high of expectations and after reading early impressions of "oh my god the movie looks like it was filmed yesterday" I was a bit let down.

Like I've said, the blu ray version IS the best the movie has ever looked but I don't think it's the monumental improvement that early impressions seemed to indicate.

Wow for a second I thought this post referred to the new Halloween movie (not that the movie is all that, but the significance of the release). Very disapointing!

Grain? What grain? This movie was a pristine grain free, BD gem! You might want to try adjusting your rabbit ears a bit.

Wow is right.

Anyone who says this isn't a great transfer needs to:

1. Remember that this is a 1978 low-budget film (made on $300k).

2. Look at the original trailer included.

I watched this last night and it was great. I liked the option to listen to the movie in the original MONO presentation. That was funny.

Hopefully the rest of the series will come to BLU.

Halloween was one of the best transfers of a catalogue release I have seen. unbeleivable.

I couldn't believe how clear it was. even the darker scenes showed up perfect.

watched this on the 31st. VERY IMPRESSED. Very detailed, and the colors looked great to me. I used the mono track for the old school feel and it sounded great. Anchor Bay was the main reason I bought into Blu-ray (for the second time) and this disc did not disappoint. I can say the same for Dawn of the Dead. EXTREMELY HAPPY!

Default Is Halloween (1978) on BD worth buying?

I'm a long time fan of Halloween and must've bought it on vhs/dvd around 10+ times.
Now i have Blu-Ray i'm obviously very tempted to buy it yet again. Lots of online reviews say that the picture will blow you away and it looks like it could've been made yesterday but there are one or two that complain about colour-timing being out during the dark scenes.

Please will any Halloween owners give me honest opinions..... should i own it? Will it amaze me?

Many thanks

Default It can make u feel like it was the first time u watch Halloween

I seen Halloween on VHS and DVD

I owned the DVD version

Now I owned the Blu-ray version

It really worth buying it... I dont know about what u talking about with the color problem during dark scenes but it looks better on blu-ray than dvd cause of the quality of audio and picture.

my dvd verson never contain the subtitles, so this halloween on bd seen like it was the first time i watch the movie once i watch it on blu-ray... go ahead and see it for yourself

I don't know about "amaze" you, but it is a big step up from the regular dvd.
I have no hesitations against recommending it.
