Newline is one of my all time favorite companies...I hope that they will still release the back catalog of horror on blu-ray.

Noooooooooooo! Does this mean no more 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio? In addition, does this also mean no more Lord of the Ring with awesome HD audio?

Noooooo. Of coarse not. It only means that all titles will be DD 5.1 only on BD releases from now on.

I meant to say that, I do not want 5.1 DD; I rather have 7.1 DTS HD MA, especially on Lord of the Ring. An awesome deserves an awesome treatment.

Rats. I was afraid someone here was going to be picky about their HD SQ.

Maybe this will motivate WB to step up their audio quality. There is no excuse for them to continue releasing in 5.1 DD now that HDDVD is out of the picture anyway, and LotR trilogy truly deserves the absolute best transition into HD.

Sony should, they have the money and they know how to handle their Blu, Sony releases their films on Blu with near perfect HD video and HD audio quality.

That that also include GE or Universal only, or does it also include Vivendi?

Personally not taking this as good news, as New Line's BD releases were much better than 99% of Warner's...

I do wonder if this will expedite the process and if so will the transfer be just as good if New Line would have done it themselves.

Well that sucks......I get free movie tickets for all their new movies when they hit the theaters. Warner only gives me free DVD copies of movies (after they've been released for a month).

At least this means the Hobbit is going to probably be fast tracked. I also don't understand why people keep saying the Golden Compass is responsible. If you look at the worldwide revenue it's over $300 million, it took $200 million to make the movie. Seems to me if anything they broke even on the deal after you look at the marketing costs.
