Howard the Duck > X3

I dunno what to say guys, I just really, really dislike X3. I think I feel most burned by this movie more so than, say, Ghost Rider, because I really wanted to like it. I really tried to like it. I almost convinced myself several times that I did actually like it. But...

... I just don't like it and I'm holding a grudge.

Ghost Rider? I knew what that was going to be going in. I wasn't expecting it to be any good and my expectations were so low. It met my expectations and I couldn't bring myself to hate it (even though I do kinda hate it. Not X3 hate, but still. There's a little hate).

And you see what happens when you get Singer with more creative control.

Superman Returns. The Movie so rehashed they could have just re-released the Motion Picture.

Well that was WB's fault. They figured hey this guy directed the successful X-Men movies let him do whatever he wants with how much he wants. Mistake. Singer is a good director but he still needs a leash.

X3 was a disappointment, but I liked some parts of it.

I've had it on Blu for nearly a year now and haven't watched it yet. I want to re-watch 1 and 2 first, but I won't be doing that until they come out on Blu.

C'mon Fox, what the hell is the point of having only the third film (and the weakest one at that) on Blu for this long?

Whoever owns the rights to the Mad Max films needs to release the rest of those as well...

In my opinion, the X-men series was BY FAR the least faithful to the comics adaption of all the marvel movies, while actually being quite good because they had the right actors playing the right parts.

The costumes sucked.

X-men 1 was good, but could have been MUCH more. In fact, most people dont know is that X-men 1 was supposed to be a much longer and better film. Bryan Singer had actually intended to shoot additional footage for the first film when he was shooting Xmen 2. Im disappointed Fox didnt let Singer do this.

Well, you can't really do an entirely faithful adaption of the X-Men comics.

Though they did take from a number of storylines to create them.

X-Men 2 is probably the most faithful, given most of it's story is lifted entirely from Chris Claremont's X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills. The only signifigant change being that Stryker isn't a Reverand like he was in the comics.

That's probably also why X-Men 2 is the best film of the three. Since it was the most faithful to canon.

Hello, I am new to the X-Men series and have now see the entire series and am seriously considering purchasing the trilogy, however, I am unsure of which release to buy. I know it doesn't make a difference because all the special features are the same but I am curious as to what a hardcore fan would recommend to someone who is thinking of buying the series for the first time?

I would buy the most recent boxset but it really does not matter

the recent boxset is nothing but a repressing of the original discs jsut without the digital copies

the 4 disc releases are nothing but the original 3 disc editions (blu ray, special features disc and digital copy) with an added dvd of the film. the movies and special features are all the same so if digital copies aren't a wild thing for you (and I think they're expired too) then get whatever is cheapest (boxset, singles etc)

I don't think its possible to do a faithful translation of any book from print to screen, much less comic books. By their very nature, comics have stories that are changed like crazy over multiple decades; that's why films based on them haven't stuck with every detail, because to do so would crowd everything.

No, Fox basically used the same transfers over and over again. The only difference between the various re-releases are

a) the early releases don't have extras, whereas later releases have extras
b) the inclusion of Digital Copy discs and/or DVDs.

If you have a Fry's near you, they sell the trilogy for $19.99 from time to time.
