He was onscreen for like probably 5% of the movie (and I think thats stretching it).

The problem is that there are so many characters in the X-Men Universe...so many relationships and stories to be told both small and big. If they do make an XMen 4 they need to make sure that they focus on showing the relationships between the team members as well as a good movie storyline. Just don't throw random new characters in the mix and not have them interact at all with each other.
Actually (like Gambit being shoehorned into the Wolverine movie after the fact), Angel was only crammed in as part the movie's impetus for "Look, it's our last movie, time to cram in EVERY SINGLE CONCEPT IDEA we never got around to on paper in the first two movies! "
And so, after years of wrangling and rewrite-drops, we finally get a don't-blink Danger Room scene in the first five minutes of the movie. With Sentinels in it.
It took them years to figure both of those out, and we still haven't gotten the Blob yet.

And besides, as already mentioned, X2 was "the gayest ever".

The second was golden. But yes the first was average and the third was a complete mess.

I recommend X-men 3 1000%
For me it captures the rythm of a comics, fast pace, no long boring discussion, mutants using their powers freely and very often ... The 2 first movies seem gay (sorry Mr Synger but you screwed too many characters I love : Rogue, Mastermind) with whining kids and philosophical crap.
The PQ is splendid (skin details of Mystique are out of this world).

You know, I didn't care for this film as much the first time I watched it on DVD (never saw it in the theater); however, I watched it over the weekend on Blu and I really, really enjoyed it. Someone else mentioned that they enjoyed it better the second time around. Perhaps this is one of those films that gets better with repeated viewings. Dunno. It's one of my super-hero faves now.

Same here. It was the vey first blu ray I ever bought. I actually like the movie. At the time I thought the PQ was incredible but since then there have been so many blu ray movies that have surpassed it. I would probably rate the PQ a 3.5-4.0 out of 5. I have been completely spoiled by newer films like I, Robot, I Am Legend, Cars, and Ratatoullie.

One, the films are not "gay" as you say. Grow up.

And actually, it doesn't do a really good job of capturing the rythem of the comics. Go read "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills" and get back to me. Because that's what X2 is based on. And it deals a lot with philosophical stuff. In fact, all the great older X-Books did. It's only recently that they've become fairly shallow.

I personally felt X2, like Spidey 2 both represented superb representations of the characters. Spidey especially practically sang it felt so right.

Can anyone explain the Professor X scene at the end when he is in a coma? How long was he in this coma for? When did he end up in a wheelchair? Is he using his mind telepathically to convince everyone that he exists outside of a hospital bed to then fake his own death?

[Show spoiler]nope. At the end that's not him.... remember earlier in the film when they were watching that video with the students about that brain dead guy and what happens if you could use people like that... that body you see at the end is the brain dead guy. when he died Professor X transferred his consciousness into that brain dead guy's body... basically he's alive but in another person's body

This could be considered a spoiler for those who haven't seen the film. Please use spoiler tags.

I was going to import the X-MEN Quadrilogy (Silly FOX, Tetrology is the correct terminology) since X-MEN 1-3 have Picture-in-Picture stuff with the film discs whilst the USA release doesn't.
How's the commentary for this film?

I used to think X3 was lacking. After watching First Class, I decided to give it another try and I have to admit I really enjoyed it this time. There was a good story there and a lot of action to boot.

I noticed a continuity error between X3 and First Class though.
[Show spoiler]In X3, when Xavier and Magneto are meeting Jean Grey at her house in the 70s (or 60s, I'm not sure) at the beginning, Charles is walking and already bald, whereas in First Class, he still has his hair before he becomes paralyzed. A small error for sure but I brought it up anyway for the sake of conversation.

Then so did the other X-Men films. Given none of them followed the comic canon.

X-Men: The Last Stand may not be a perfect film, but it at least tried to deliver some genuine action with the social commentary.

Agreed...and it's the only other movie besides First Class that has Beast!

Wrong, and more wrong. It's not a great movie, but besides killing a few major players and failing to even include others, they did a pretty good job of capturing the dynamic of the team. Ratner did an arguably better job of making the team look like an actual team on the battlefield than Singer did. Don't get me wrong. His movie doesn't touch Singer's two, but I liked parts of it better. And a huge plus it had? It wasn't the freaking Wolverine Show. It was the X-Men. The movie got mixed reviews as well. Not terrible reviews, mixed. I know some people disregard reviews, but I don't.

I'm a X-Men fan from way back when some of you probable weren't even born and I liked it. More importantly, my wife liked it and followed along with it. When I think of bad, I think of Ghost Rider. Which I'm still trying to live down with her My question is this, how do all 3 movies look on BD? Is it worth me upgrading or just keeping my dvd's for the time being?
