The DSP update addresses the "DTS bomb" that some DTS-HD MA titles have been exhibiting. I've already updated my receiver DSP version and retested without issue. I'm holiding off on the actual Firmware update as this can only be done via an RS-232 connection and I don't have a cable handy this weekend. Additionally, the chances of "bricking" your receiver are greater with the Firmware than with the DSP update.
yes, aware of that. understand the difference i just mistyped/labled.
i was just letting you know that you could take care of the bomb issue that you were reporting.

Just to inform you guys, the Star Wars Blu-Ray discs has the DTS HD Master bomb issue. I have the problems on discs I,II,III and IV. You can replicate the problem by skipping to chapter 16 on movie IV.

Several owners have confirmed the issue on a number of Onkyo, Pioneer and Yamaha AVRs... The problem even occurs on AVRs that had the DTS DSPs reflashed. I had my Onkyo 906 reflashed and the problem is still there.

I thought all this was corrected with firmware updates?

I own a Onkyo 805 with the updated DSPs and I'm able to re-create the bomb but this only happens when you jump directly to chapter 16. If you play it straight from chapter 15 it won't bomb once it gets to 16.

I own two Onkyo receivers. My TX-SR805 and 875 both have the issue with the DTSMA-HD audio bomb on the new Star Wars Blu-rays. I also have the latest firmware from the last fix that Onkyo produced. My confidence in Onkyo is slipping and I really hope they fix this. My next receiver purchases might be different if I can't trust Onkyo's products and service. I "REALLY" don't want to blow out any speakers or my ears! First time it happened I thought a gun went off!

Yes, this problem is on all AVRs. My son has a Sony STR DG 820 and while watching STAR WARS it literally almost blew the speakers out. I have never been so scared in my life. We were listening at a fairly high volume level when it happened and it sounded like a large caliber gun right at your ear level. HOLY SHIT!!!!! This crap is going to ruin someones high dollar speakers, not to mention ears. Totally unacceptable.

Thanks for the heads up. Haven't bought this yet, and having a newly purchased Yamaha RX-A700(it's only a couple of weeks old), I'm glad I haven't. Hopefully someone with an RX-A700 will be able to confirm if this is true(or not).
