Meet the Spartans (Blu-ray) - 6/3/08

I know someone around here has been waiting for the announcement for this title. So figured I'd start a thread now that the news has popped up on DVD Times for a US release. Didn't happen to catch this one at the theater myself, but I may give it a rental. It should make everyone happy that it's Lossless.

Fox Home Entertainment have announced the US Region A Blu-ray Disc release of Meet the Spartans on 3rd June 2008 priced at $39.98 SRP. The latest spoof comedy from the writing and directing team behind Date Movie and Epic Movie primarily targets 300 as it follows the journey of Leonidas, the King of Sparta. When his kingdom is challenged by the powerful Xerxes, Leonidas must recruit some of his strongest soldiers; which unfortunately leaves him with 13 (not 300) of the not-so-finest. Armed with nothing but leather underwear and a flowing red cape, Leonidas leads his ragtag army to defend their homeland, delivering send-ups of motion picture heavyweights including Ghost Rider, Transformers, Spider-Man 3 and Casino Royale, as well as tackling such pop culture television staples as “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Ugly Betty” and “Deal or No Deal.”

Arriving day-and-date, the Meet the Spartans BD includes the unrated feature in widescreen format, with all the standard-def “Pit of Death” DVD special features included, plus several BD-exclusive features including an on-screen trivia track and two interactive games – “Celebrity Kickoff” and “Super Pit of Death Ultimate Tactical Battle Challenge.” The disc will be presented on a 25GB single-layer disc authored in BD-J with AVC (MPEG 4) compression with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio and Spanish / French Dolby Surround.

fox may just meet that 100 titles in 08 that they stated late last year. I hope they do. This title really doesn't appeal to me but glad to see fox keeping the titles coming. However, since I am buying a house in 2 months I have to cut the blu buying until after I get settled in. But I will be making a nice large order once everything is settled house wise

Renting it, even an unrated cut cant bring me to purchase this.. unless theres some great deal on it.. which there wont be.. rent for sure.

I was hoping they wouldn't release this at all on Blu. I haven't seen this film and never will (even if it was free). Apparently it's worse than Epic Move! I've seen Epic Movie. It's the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen and if this is even worse than that

After Date Movie you couldn't even make me rent this. I watched about five minutes of Epic Movie and that was enough.

You lasted 4 minutes and 30 seconds more than I did . Really though, this movie was horrendous. I turned it off within the first 30 seconds.

Any news on a 4K release for this? I know it seems unlikely for Disney to release it but if any Fox title deserves a 4K this is up there
