That maybe true, but running a 1080p source not to mention Digital audio track through the cable carries so much information that I don't think I would feel comfortable using a $3.00 cable to do that job.

Yes. AND I worked in MHT at Best Buy. If for nothing else, the junky cables I did have (I used to buy rocketfish at first) would sometimes go in and out on me.

yes, did you? anyone that understands the science and can explain hat is happening sais one thing and the rest are just saying "cable is cable is cable and it does not matter"

It is not the proice that matters, some charge a lot for snake oil and others give it away for cheap. It is not a 3$, 50$,100$, 500$ question. But there can be differences in cables and that can lead to degradations. What will happen with HDMI (if there is a minor signal degradation) is that individual pixels per frame will be messed up. It could be 1 or 2 or 3 or 50 or 100 it might be perceivable sometimes , it might be perceivable to some.

saying all cables are the same is just as dumb as saying you need the most expensive one.

There is also 5 parts to every cable that can affect thge outcome.
1,2) the connector at each end
3) the wire
4,5) the connection between the previous 3

#3 (wire) it's role will depend on length but a bad connection at any of the other 4 will affect what comes out at the other end.

WE get it, you bought 3$ cables and so they must be the best. I did not buy those cables, maybe they are , maybe they are not. But all cables are not the same and a 1 can easily become a 0 and a 0 a 1 if the timing over the cable gets extremely slightly screwed up

Thank you for pointing out the flaw in your own argument. Good job!

It's not a question of price. It's a question of quality. If you buy from a trusted reseller and buy a 1.3a-b cable (which 90% of HDMI cables are anyway), then you're fine.

Except under extreme, and I do mean XXXXTREME, circumstances, the $7 cable is just as good as the $100 one. There are multiple independent laboratory tests confirming this, and they also outline when you would want to upgrade a cable. Of course, who actually listens to people who successfully do cable and laboratory comparison for a livelihood. I'm sure your token experience is far more defining.

obviously, has anyoine said anything differently? where is that a flaw in my argument. The flaw is in your argument when you say BS like

someone get decide to trust someone because he charges more, someone else can decide to trust anyone because they should be fine.

BTW if you are curious I don't have any Monster cable and I think they are a rip-off in the sense that they are good cables but way over priced like most name brand things.
But pretending there cannot be a quality difference between any cable just because it says 1.3a or b on the package is where your leap happens.

i have a no-name generic brand LCD 32'' tv from Wal-Mart, and the $30 HDMI PS3 cable.

my father-in-law has a big ole 50'' Sony and expensive ass monster cables and the PS3 games look better on my tv.

ive also played PS3 on several tvs with several different brands of HDMI cable and the results vary throughout the price range.

price DEFINITELY does not reflect quality.

No it's not...it is a solely a question of price. If you could buy a Monster Cable for the same price as one from Monoprice, everybody would get the Monster Cable because it's a better cable.

Who says it's not besides the monster haters?

Serious though - if you have an background in electronics, you will know about skin effect - do some research on this and you will see....

Now this doesn't mean that cheap cables won't be ok for shorter runs but not for longer runs.

Like I said, this is all about price....if you could get a monster cable for monoprice price, this thread would not even exist because everyone would be getting the monster cable over the monoprice cable.
