All the retailers in my area are only carrying the 80 and 800 series, and the pricing here is higher. The 42PZ80 is $1799 and the 42PZ800 is 2499. I checked with a couple of specialty retailers, and they don't even have a listing for the 85 and 850 series. So far, the only retailer in Canada that is getting the 85 seems to be Future Shop, and it appears only in the 50" size... weird. @ dobyblue when I clicked on Dez's link, I saw the the 85 series were listed as native 24p. I thought you mentioned in the 24p stickied thread that only the 800s were native 24p. If the 85s are, maybe I'll bite the bullet and import that one instead. 30000:1 cr AND native 24p, just like the 800 series, but cheaper? Yes, please. Plus I'm liking the US pricing on these products, and with the dollar at or near par.... |

Oh, hey now...
ALL of the PZ85 series are now available at Future Shop, according to their website. Still $200 above the US pricing, but at least I now know it's available here. Do the 85's have Pixel Shift? I can't find a complete spec on them, or most websites don't mention whether it has it or not, either way. EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. The PZ85's do have Pixel Shift. We in Canada are getting screwed on prices, the exchange rate today was almost exactly equal, prices should follow.

Do Future Shop Home Theater sales people work on commission, or partial commission? If they do, then talking them down is a very real possibility. Especially if Future shop is charging $200 above the MSRP.

LCD vs Plasma??
I believe Plasma has definitely come along way... but I still feel LCD has it's advantages. Lifespan for one... I've read articles upon articles indicating that Plasma TVs are dying way too soon. Can anyone comment on this? Am I just reading tabloid-like garbage? |
