This is the bit that I'm really excited about. It sounds like Pioneer will be the first to exploit the new Audio Rate Control functionality in HDMI V1.3a that apes the isochronous i-link connection they used to use to great effect. Both these interfaces use an amplifier-driven rate control function that loosly synchronises the player to the amplifier, rather than the other way round. This has huge benefits with audio playback. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit.

Europe is going to have four Pioneer players for later this year:

The first three have:

wonder if these players will be able to process BD-J enabled titles as fast as a PS3?

I'm still surprised that 3 of the 4 new players are profile 1.1 and not 2.0, even though they are for the Eurpoean market. Doesn't seem to help generate a lot of support for BD-Live, which I'm not that excited about either.

I know Pioneer is supposed to release a high-end reference Elite player this fall for the US, and wonder if it's going to be similar to the LX-91.
