I agree, i bought a stand alone player instead of the ps3, why? cus there is no way in hell that the ps3 is as good as a stand alone player, similar to the ps2 when it came out it could play "dvd's" but the quality was shit compared to a stand alone dvd player..i mean look at the size of the ps3 compared to say the BDP S300, its tiny, where does all the lost space go to ? nuff said.

My wife and I are doing alot better and a couple of weeks ago she replaced it with another PS3! Back to Blu-ray! And as for the article for this post, it was pointless. The 6 reasons do not justify another Blu-ray player over the PS3's. |

But it comes up all the time here. You hear this at least once a week from a new Onkyo owner buying their first non-HTiB.

So, between the IR remote accessory, the fan noise being drowned out by reasonable movie playback volume, and that MENTALLY CHALLENGED comment about having the audio codec light up, there really is only 3 valid complaints in that article. And, even only 1 of those is really worthy of attention (analog audio out). |

Anyone with a PLASMA in general would not EVER complain about the PS3's power usage.. plasma's use the MOST out of anything!

I haven't tried a PS3 but I hear it's a pretty solid player. However for me #1 is a major problem. After I've spent $100 for an all-in-one universal remote that can do everything, I really don't want to settle for a component that isn't compatible with it. As far as #6 goes, I've heard that if you're outputting PCM through HDMI, then you're not actually getting Dolby True HD or DTS HDMA. I've seen some posts saying you can tell a difference and others saying you can't. I don't know from experience, just something I've heard. If it would output in bitstream and let my receiver do the work then maybe (just maybe) I could live with the remote issue.

Ugh, the "green" reason was utterly stupid. It's being mentioned on a website that uses how much more power for it's server then a PS3? Okay, moving on from that.
Never had a problem with my bluetooth remote having to be in the exact perfect right angle contorting myself breaking my back to get that sweet spot so I can even use the remote. I've yet to hear my fan over the noise of the movie itself. If you can hear the fan, you're not using the speakers right in my opinion. I agree on the analog outs, does suck for those with old receievers. I never look at my receiver when playing a movie, for some odd reason the movie plays on my TV, so I never see what lights up on my receiver. Pretty useless objection there. Isn't there an autoplay feature? Every time I put in a movie DVD or Blu it plays automatically, I don't have to go through the XMB to get it to play, so I don't feel "threatened" by the interface. Maybe mines a super special edition where I don't have to actually interface with it when I put a movie in, but the one they have doesn't do that? Actually thinking about it, there was once I had to hit start because when I put the movie in, I think I hit a button, but it STILL automatically went to right over the icon to play the movie, so there was no moving around the interface then.
