TCM will be airing it later this month. It's a classic comedy, one of Dustin Hoffman's best, plus great supporting work from Teri Garr, Jessica Lange, Bill Murray, Charles Durning and Dabney Coleman. I am surprised there hasn't been news of a US release considering we just passed the 30 year mark and this movie was a major blockbuster (second only to E.T. in 1982 box office) when it came out. I will probably spring for the German import if region-free.

Tootsie is one of my all-time favs. I have the 25th anniversary DVD. My favorite part of that is the making-of featurette. About an hour long, and it covers everything from idea to filming. I'm SO glad Pollack did that, as he passed not long after.

But geez, I'd so love to see it on Blu.

I would've preferred the Criterion edition with the Pollack commentary.

Surely the Blu-ray will have all previous features included. One would hope.

I hope so. I set up to record this movie a few months ago and it didn't do it, so if this doesn't come out anytime this year than I will have to wait until the next time that it is on Turner Classic Movies.

Does the German import contain the special features from the 25th anniversary DVD? If so I just may import... would be cheaper anyways than Twilight Time

Yep >>>

• 'Ein besserer Mann: Das Making of Tootsie' (ca. 69 min.)
• 'Probeaufnahmen von Dustin Hoffman' (ca. 3 min.)
• 'Entfallene Szenen' (ca. 8 min.)

Yea, the TT crap is why I'm going to order the import in a few weeks.

When Tootsie came out, it was one of the top 10 grossing films of all time and was both the highest grossing comedy ever and the highest grossing film in Columbia history until Ghostbusters came along... and yet it'd be pawned off to that overpriced online-exclusive company? Ugh.

I have thought of buying a few imports. Just of movies that I am tired of waiting to be released in the US I may have to add this on my list of things to get. How much does it cost?

Just asked TT about Tootsie on their facebook page. Says they haven't been offered it. I guess I'm having to import.

That should be a good harbinger that Sony might release it themselves

I'm surprised this film hasn't been given a proper US release. This is a classic and one of the top one hundred films off of the AFI list. I purchased As Good As It Gets through Twilight Time and was very happy with the treatment it received. I won't hesitate buying this one if they end up being offered this title.

Any news on a domestic (US) release?
I'd love to own it on Blu-Ray!
Happy that From Here to Eternity is finally coming though.
