This movie has a huge cult following, lots of famous 80's talent, horror, and comedy. Seems like the prefect mix for me...yet I could never really get into it.

I know! I was the target audience for this movie, and like I said, it's got everything I like in it, yet it just never did anything for me. I watched it again about a year ago, and had the same "meh" feeling about it I've always had.

Oh well. I guess I'll just go on being one of the freaks.

This was one of my favorite movies growing up.know it's on bluray. I thought it looks good for the age of the film. The soundtrack is good as well.

Since this is the only blu-ray release of The Lost Boys in the U.S (with or without DNR) we'll just have to accept it, or don't buy it at all and settle for the DVD.

Is there evidence they added DNR, and not that they just didn't bother spending the money for a proper transfer? Just curious, thanks.

I think the video quality is above average. The reviewer and pretty much all the user reviews seem to agree too. It's always so funny to me when a movie gets decent to favorable reviews for video quality and then someone jumps into a thread exclaiming that the movie is the most horrid thing they've seen.

Personally I thought the video quality exceeded my original expectations for this release. Granted I was taken into account the fact that this is a nearly 25 year old movie that was an earlyish generation blu from Warner Brothers.

But I picked up the title last month and was actually impressed - a huge improvement over the DVD with the black levels alone.

On a personal level I love this film. Grew up watching it (probably 6 or 7 the first time I watched it) and randomly ended up going to Santa Cruz for college where it was filmed. Nothing like being 18 years old, in a strange city for the first time only to realize that you have childhood memories of the same places with vampires (especially the boardwalk which has more or less remained untouched).

It doesn't look like any DNR have been applied. I thought the blu-ray looked very good.

That happens a lot when you enjoyed a film as a teen and then revisit it as an adult. Many 80's films do this to me - I wonder what I liked about them in the first place. Poltegeist comes to mind.... it was acary and interesting when I was 12 years old. But, watching it in my late 30's, I just thought it was cheesey and stoopid.

For the record - I still dig lost boys and can watch it with my daughters since its a very mild R rating. I wont rebuy it or anything though.

Watched it for the first time last night and loved it.
I miss this 80's atmosphere in today's films, the 80's were great years for cinema. I love when these films make me have this sensation of ''wow, I would loved to have lived it that time''. I like my time, but if I had the chance to choose, probably I would choose be a teenager in the 80's.

Take it from someone who was 18 in the summer of 1987 and who took his 14-year-old brother to a sneak preview screening the weekend before "The Lost Boys" opened...let me put it this way, we couldn't stop telling our friends to go see it the following weekend when it opened, and we did see it again ourselves, not to mention bought the soundtrack on cassette.

I'm very grateful to be a kid in the '70s and '80s. I have lots of great movie memories from that time.

I snuck into this movie when I was 13 years old and was blown away. I was actually scared, LoL. More so cuz I had to ride my bike home by myself at night afterward but I was instantly hooked. I turned this BD into a custom BD+DVD+CD. The soundtrack is 80's bliss.
