This game is not going to make people unfamiliar with MGS buy a PS3, but anybody who owns a PS3 with some experience with Solid Snake will pick this game up.

The best game title ever. Has any game ever had anything better that Guns of the Patriot.

It's really aggravating when people say it's alright for them to be biased. I honestly couldn't care less for the physical rating but when someone says a game that is clearly worse is better than that game on another platform that is clearly better, that doesn't make anything right. Consumer misinformation is a big problem, especially in the gaming world.

seriously? metal gear solid is one of the greatest stories ever created in any medium (books, tv, movies, gaming). compared to halo, lets just say it would be like comparing the Star Wars prequels (Halo) to 2001: A Space Odyssey (Metal Gear Solid). Any movie critic who said the Star Wars prequels were better to 2001 would be considered an assclown who didn't know anything, and the same should be applied to these reviewers.

But trust me, they aren't stupid, they know Metal Gear is the better game, and probably in the top 3 games ever created. However, when Microsoft is giving you incentives to try to kill, because they are extremly desperate, the greatest game this generation, you find it feasible to rate their games higher.

and this opinion has nothing to do with the console Metal Gear Solid 4 is on. Mass Effect and Bioshock kick the crap out of anything the PS3 has had up to this point, I will openly admit that. But MGS leveled the playing field completely. It is that good.

Gametrailers lost their credibility with me a while ago. The Grid fiasco was some of the worst BS i've seen in a long time. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt and said that it was a mistake, but I really don't believe it was anymore.
They said the ps3 version lacks dynamic crashes, followed by a demonsrtation on the ps3 with dynamic crashes posed as the 360 version. If the ps3 version doesn't have the specific feature you tout, how do you show it with that? To me thats a clear indication that they have an agenda and its to make the ps3 look bad in subtle ways.

Now...taking off points for the story because its too complicated for them to follow (more than likely because they skipped a cut scene or two) is like knocking off points graphically for a game looking too realistic. *rolls eyes*

everybody said the same thing about gta 4...how it would be sooo cool..and sooo much better on ps3...and this is why they bought the ps3....Now that its out...everyone says its..ok...or sucks...and its not even talked about much anymore..when it was talked about everyday....I dont buy my games or movies based on what a critic says...thats why i have a blockbuster down the street...i rent..if i like..i buy...if you go by critics you will miss out on alot of good games and buy alot of games that suck..then youll be coming here to complain about it..It doesnt matter what system it is on....i like the halo series...i like gears of war....on the other hand...i like resistance and uncharted...not a big fan of metal gear series...i played 3 and didnt like it at all...Thats my opinion...and i have both ps3 and xbox360...

i think its funny when people bash games or other people because of what system they have...get over it they both cost the same price when it comes down to it all..and they both have pros and cons.

In my opinion (which is like an *******, everyone's got one and they all stink) the PS3 is hands down the better system between XBOX 360 and PS3. That being said, I own both systems and enjoy them both. In fact I have more games for the XBOX 360 (28) than I do for the PS3 (6) because I play what I enjoy and it just so happens that I enjoy more games for the XBOX 360 than for the PS3.

Who gives a $hit which console is better, just play what you like to play and let everyone else play what they like to play.

And for the record, It'll be a while before I pick up MGS4 and I'm not really that stoked about it (but I was for Halo 3). And there is only one reason for this - when the original XBOX came out I got one, not because it was better than the PS2 but because I had always had Nintendo products and felt betrayed when the GameCube came out so I knew I had to make the switch to another gaming system. And it just so happens I chose the XBOX. I can't tell you why, but I just did. And because I didn't have a lot of money at the time I never bought a PS2 so therefore I never played any other MGS games but did play both Halo and Halo 2.

MGS4 will be a great game I'm sure, but we are all conditioned to like what we like by the experiences we have had.

Once again, my advice to you all...... Grow up and play what you want to play because you like it.

Do you really care if people that never played MGS before are going to play MGS4? If so than maybe you should take your passion for stupid causes (i.e. that those who have never played MGS should like and want to play MGS4) and apply it to something worthwhile.

well i have a funny story:

i'am 21 years old, i still go to school,
in my class there is/was a huge xbox360 fan! couldn't say anyting right about the playstation. for him it was xbox all the way.

like i said before if i'am to call myself a fanboy it's for the playstation. So he always saw me as the enemy!! but as a month a go he purchased a ps3!!
for what? he wanted a blu-ray player! why did he buy a ps3? and not a stand alone? because i told him to because here in europe it is in my opion the best blu-player for the buck.

and what? he play's games more on his ps3 than xbox before halo was in his opion far supirior than resistance, he now thinks different. fortza was better dan gt, he olso thinks different about that. He doesn't like uncharted because of the type of game! but as a game is was blown away by it!

he has cod4 on his 360 he could not say witch version was better his or mine, (ps3)

and if i ask him now wich game is better? he will anwser i don't know let me play them on a 360 and a ps3 and then i can give a fare awnser.!!

I LOVE people crying that the story is a 10....BEFORE THEY EVEN PLAYED THE GAME! Get a grip, reviews are someones opinion. Just because you love the MGS series doesnt mean everyone else has to give it a 10. I personally like the MGS gameplay, but the story is typically jumbled nonsense like its trying to be that way on purpose. Most of the games id give the game play high 9's but the story, please, its like average at best. Its trying to be too cool for the room. Any game that needs websites to interpret the story for you and explain it to you, is not telling it very well.

I have played the game, I havn't beaten it, but Ive played enough of it to already tell you that in the first hour of MGS IV (don't worry ive played much more than an hour), the story surpassed Halo, AC, so rating those stories better, I can already tell you is ridiculous. Even if the rest of the game was just mediocre, it would hold up to Bioshock, ME, and GTA IV as far as storylines go, but I can say with near 100% certainty that as the story goes on it will continue to get better.
