Bardems character was nothing like the joker. Whats the similarities? They are both serial killers? Hannibal Lecter is a serial killer too. Hes not like the joker. So is Rod Steigers character is No Way to Treat a Lady he not like the joker. And I agree the academy is BS there are soooo many injustices within the academy I dont even know where to start. But all Im saying is this performance isnt one nowhere near as good as the godfather, dogday afternoon, there will be blood, its just the joker.

Which is a character that has been a staple of American culture for decades . . . because it's a crappy character? Comic books use the same roots as every other great film or book. No reason to exclude comic content because it's a comic book.

Yeah that stupid american idol has one but sir peter otoole who has dedicated his life to theater and has been in literally some of the greatest films of all time, in the entire history of film has how many oscars? 0. So please the oscars are a sham. Thats why legendary actor george c scott refused both of his, because he knew it was bs. And why brando gave his back for waterfront, and turned down his for the godfather. So if all you have is peter travers who helps summer ticket sales because it makes him, the magazine, and the studio money your argument is poor.

Great in CANDY

Great in MONSTER'S BALL

Perfect in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

No, I believe it's YOUR argument that is poor.

Just the Joker? That is ridiculous. The Joker is one of the most iconic villains in American fiction.

As for the Academy, look no further than the 2008 awards when Zodiac got completely snubbed. Not a single nomination. That movie was great on many levels. I expected it to get perhaps an acting nomination (Downey Jr. and Ruffalo were great) and some technical award nominations. But it got no nominations. Zilch. Norbit even got a nomination (makeup).

No, it's because your arguments are weak and you're trying to pass off your opinion as fact, and the few facts you provide aren't even correct.

Seems to me you have made up your mind that you hate the movie without even seeing it. You're a far bigger fanboy than me. I am nervous about the film and cautious about it. Hoping it's good, but not taking anything for granted. It could very well suck.

What have I tried to say was a fact? Besides the fact that his death has hyped this movie up by 100%

That he's a bad actor. You called that a fact when it is actually your own opinion.

The hype for this movie has been in full swing since it was announced. Any fan of Batman Begins didn't need Ledger's death to further amplify their anticipation. A non-fan of Batman Begins, or Batman in general, isn't going to see the movie just because the star died. Otherwise The Crow would have been a lot bigger than it was.

Show me one thing I said that says I hate the movie. Why would I go to an advanced screening of a movie I hate?

You have openly said you hope the movie flops. As for your question, you're the only one who can answer that.

Before his death, people thought of it as the movie to see in 2008, post death, its all of a sudden the best movie of all time.

Again you go over the argument. What about bardems character is similar? Youve failed to answer the argument you brought up. And read my previous post about the joker it said and I quote "Everyone loves the joker the jokers cool. The joker was cool before ledger did it. The joker was cool before nicholson did it. The joker was cool before hamill did it. These guys have all different interpretations in voice, makeup, some are cartoons, some are live action, some are comics, graphic novels. The mythology around the joker cant all be acredited to ledger. So please stop blowing this out of proportion." I love the joker too. Heath ledger is a different story. Again im not saying hes poor in the film. Im saying it wont be the greates performance of all time like many make it out to be.

no. Fanboys were already over-hyping it before he died. His death affects how people view his performance more than the movie itself I think. Fanboys will overhype. That's what they do. But as I said, I am being cautious because it could be a lousy movie.
