I wonder what kind of changes they'll make to it - if any at all.

And how much will they charge for the Blu version? Think I only paid £4 for the download, can't see it being that cheap on disc so will probably seem a little expensive.

Even if they charge £5 for the disc version, people see a disc on the shelf and say, "hmm...a £5 PS3 game...I should pick that up..."

it works...it really, really, works.

+1

The perception of value for a disc is much higher. Plus, you can resell when you are done playing it.

Someone without internet access IN JAPAN?

Seriously, I think that is the one place in the world where 99% of the population would have internet access.

srsly...

look at this article...
clicky

Quote:
comScore (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released a new study on mobile phone usage in Japan. The study estimated that 53.6 million people are using a mobile device to access the Internet, a figure nearly equaling the 53.7 million who accessed the Internet from either a home or a work computer in June 2007. The study was conducted among 3100 people age 15 and over.

Checking email is the most common Internet activity from mobile phones, used by 75 percent of those surveyed. Forty-one percent checked email at least once a day. Accessing news and information was next most popular with 52 percent doing so. Search and navigation queries were close behind at 51 percent

The Last Guy gets new stages, Trophy support
Find out what's new for the Blu-ray version, and how you can get it!

The world's second best Indian is descending upon Japan from his summer home in the Himalayas one more time. But this time, he's going retail!

As previously announced, The Last Guy, until now limited exclusively to download sales, is getting a Blu-ray version on May 28. Priced at 3,480 yen, the disc version includes the following, as detailed today at the game's official site: all 19 stages from the download version, three new stages, three promotional movies, and a 500 yen coupon for the PlayStation Store as a first print run bonus.

Hey, did you know that The Last Guy was the No.1 most popular original game at the PlayStation Store? Says so in the red in the above snap shot from the official site. The fine print at the bottom notes that this ranking is based off sales figures from between November 2006 through February 2009 and only includes original games -- that is, completely new games not including ports.

Sony isn't forgetting the players who made the game so big. Those who have the download version will be able to get the extra Blu-ray stages through paid download on the 28th. The download will come in the form of a single Bonus Stage Pack priced at 500 yen.

Sony will also be making available a free patch that adds Trophy support and other features to the game. The Blu-ray version will have this patch in place out of the box.

There's more wackiness on the way at The Last Guy official site. Apparently, an ambassador from the Himalayas is coming to Japan. And he's bringing curry! Check back at the official site presumably before the May 28 release date for more on that.

Is the trophy patch out for US customers? If not, is there a date for the download?

Looks like the US may or may not be getting the new levels as DLC and the trophy support. I really hope we will get at least the trophy support. Would make me play the game again.

Remember The Last Guy -- that odd yet fun downloadable distraction that came out last year? Sure you do, it's too bizarre to be forgotten and, assuredly, Sony hasn't forgotten either. A Blu-ray version will be hitting Japan on May 28 and along with it comes Trophy support and new stages. Of course, a Trophy patch will be made available for those who already own the game. Also, the new stages can be bought as a DLC pack on PSN.

Now the million dollar question is: Are these additions coming our way, too? Perhaps. The Last Guy is Japan's most popular original PSN title (according to a translation done by IGN's Anoop Gantayat) and so it's not odd to see continued support for the game over there. But, how did it fare in North America? Well, it never made the Top 10 downloads list. Despite this, we're thinking the new content won't require much effort to localize and we'll still see it come out over here.

The Last Guy Getting Trophies Tomorrow, Add-On Coming Next Month
Quote:
Hi everyone – Josh Miller here. I recently launched Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, but today I’m here to talk about a quirky little game called The Last Guy. I’m happy to announce that tomorrow the game will receive a free update that adds Trophies to the game. I’m excited since it gives me a reason to play through the game again.

If you haven’t heard of The Last Guy, the game came out last summer, preceded by an “interesting”developer diary video. It’s a classic and addictive “line” game with simple controls that uses satellite maps of real cities around the world, including San Francisco, Tokyo, and Sydney, as its levels. You play a hero who rescues people hiding out in buildings and leads them to the safety zone for evacuation while avoiding zombie monsters that roam the streets. The bigger the line, the bigger the bonus. But bigger lines also make it harder to avoid monsters, who make people scatter when they get close.
You can use thermo vision to see where people are hiding, and pick up power-ups scattered throughout the levels to stop time, fill up your energy meter and more. The game is available now for $9.99 on the PS Store, and there’s even a demo if you want to try it out before you buy it.
Here’s a trailer to get an idea of what the game is about and what the visuals look like.

There will be 15 Trophies in all to reward you for getting good ratings on stages, rescuing VIPs, getting lots of fireworks and more. The Trophies are not retro-active, meaning they won’t be unlocked automatically when the update is installed. You’ll need to play the game again to unlock them.
I also am pleased to announce an add-on coming for The Last Guy next month. It will add 3 bonus stages to the game, which are unlocked by fulfilling certain conditions in the main game. The add-on also includes 8 additional Trophies to help you rank up your Trophy level.
Enjoy!
