Diablo 3 would be sweet!

I miss the good old days of tristing, and baal's runs.

i cant understand how people can get like that over a game.

playing games should fit into your life, your life shouldnt fit into playing a game if you get what i mean.

im not a big mmorpg fan as im not to into the social side of gaming online, the only social playing i do is offline with my mates on my tv.i do play online but im not into the whole chatting to random strangers bit, i own a headset for me ps3 and i did when i had my xbox but i never used it apart from private chat to my mates i know from face to face interactions.mabey its because i work in a call center and i NEED TO talk to random strangers all day.

different strokes for different folks i guess but people have told me that wow is like crack, super addictive and to be avoided at all costs if you dont want to get hooked so i can see why people want it on the ps3

I'm gald I never got WoW or Everquest now that I read that (well that and the subscription charges). Now, I'm not really sure if I support China's 4 hr a day policy on MMORPG's or against it (well 4 hr's is enough so I guess I lean toward that side). Well maybe they should keep MMORPG's off consoles but other MMO's (like the upcoming Agency) should be welcome.
Well, we took the glib EverCrack as a badge of honor, and talked to each other as if being addicted was a good thing. Even RL convos revolved around EQ if you found others that played EQ at a game place. We all laughed and enjoyed the EverCrack flash videos or EverMatrix because that was our life. When not on EQ, we were on EQ forums based for our server. I remember Mith Marr Daily News being referred to as Mith Marr Drama News. We really didn't understand why EVERYONE didn't play.

Whats even more frightening is that sometimes I do catch myself looking back fondly at that time. Wither it be the companionship, difficult challenges that were overcame by teamwork when everyone said it couldn't be done, group dynamic, feeling of exploration of a zone the first time,or simply the 'family' atmosphere our guild had talking about anything and everything.

I remember driving in the rain with bald tires over 2 hours to San Diego (The only place that had it in stock still) to pick up the Shards of Velious expansion, because mine didn't arrive on launch day. I don't know wither to consider that a good or a bad thing, but it's one of those 'fond' moments.

Or the first time my guild cleared Plane of Fear, or took down any of the Velious Dragons in TOV, or killing Rallos Zek with only 45 people, being the 4th guild to reach the 3rd tier in Planes of Power and every other high powered guild laughing at us at the time saying it was impossible. We were good, and very tight knit. Not like other guilds in which members flowed like water. It's hard to look back at those accomplishments as 'bad'.

Players and myself included, always threatened to quit. Much like we threaten to move to Canada. Although we say it, we never really would do it. The same with EQ, none of us ever really did quit. If someone finally did quit, be it for another game, it was like a family member dying. If they returned, it was like the prodigal son. It really was just an addiction.

However, that's tempered with the knowledge that those things I and we as a guild did -- were for nothing. That 4 years of my life, I have absolutely nothing to show for it physically. All of that only resides in my memory, as a virtual world. I have a character sitting on a server with various binary digits on a server farm somewhere with a defunct guild name that no one playing today would recognize. I can't show anything that I felt were accomplishments at the time, as accomplishments today. Even if I returned or sold my character, it's so outdated that it wouldn't be worth the subscription fee.

As for me taking it bit to seriously, I and other EQ players would have only considered myself semi-hardcore. There were far many more people that played it even more and were completely engrossed in the game. Guilds higher were more like armies, with multiple characters maxed. What they did for professions, I have no clue. At least for the most part, I had some form of job. I didn't completely abandon real life until about 2 1/2 years into it, and still felt some strings of responsibility that I wanted to cut off, but at the same time didn't. Some others however, got so into the role of their character -- they became that character.

That's another reason why I feel bad for those WoW players. 8 Million folks that one day, when WoW becomes old and busted and replaced by the new hotness, they too will look back and see that everything they did, all the money spent, all the time wasted, all the raiding -- was for nothing. No one 10 years from now is going to care if you were the #1 wow PVP player or #8 million or had all purple gear. It will be bewilderment, as you realize that 4 years of your life was wasted over polygons and data, and all the things you passed up along the way might or were better.

Rockband type games will pass this in profits really soon IMO, so I doubt you would ever see this come out on a console.

What's even sadder is the excuses that most of them make when you call them on it. One "friend" of mine more or less told me that I liked Final Fantasy and my obsession with it wasn't any different from his WoW obsession. I told him that yes, there is a difference. I can turn off Final Fantasy for days and weeks and get back to it and not feel like I've lost anything. Pretty much ended the argument there.

OK, i've read the addiction stories & YES, MMORPGs are the holy grail when it comes to addiction in gaming but like any other type of addiction like smoking, drugs etc it is a good idea to get help immediately & not wait till you are completely sucked into it

MMORPGs interest me more than other online games because i believe it delivers the most immersive online experience & i'd like to have that experience on the PS3

World of Warcraft is my most wanted for the PS3 as it is arguably the best designed & maintained MMORPG around

I'm sorry to hear jason that your addiction for EQ got that far but you should like i said earlier seek help for an addiction & like others say, your life shouldn't revolve around a game but fit into your life

While I think its sad how some people can let it take over their lives, I don't believe the government should be able to tell me that even though its over the weekend, I can't sit at home and play my video game endlessly. I know that you aren't saying that you support it, but I think any government restrictions on them is going in the wrong direction.

I think that it should be addressed in other ways such as no BS support groups for those people and it to be publicly addressed that its an issue and its not OK to neglect this life to a certain point and become fully engrossed on an online one. I enjoy MMOs a lot and have been addicted before, but I broke the addiction myself before it could spiral too much out of control, but it was my decision just as it was Jason's decision.

I was addicted to Final Fantasy XI and I'm not going to say that it ruined my life as I made my own conscious decisions. Now during the time I played it, my life was going in a very big downward spiral and I was just like Jason and based every action I made around me playing the game more. I finally broke away from it because of some personal reasons and I do feel like my life would of been different if I didn't make the choices I did while playing that game. With that being said, its still the choices that we make that affect our lives and not the video games we choose to make the decisions around.

I would much prefer to have City of Heroes on the PS3 than WoW. NCSoft signed a deal to develop MMO games for the PS3, let's get crackin'!

It will certainly not come to the PS3.. there is no money in it. Anyone who wants to play WoW already does on their PC - it will run on almost any PC. WoW makes their money in subscriptions not game copy sales. They might sell many copies for the PS3 but they would likely be to existing subscribers. It's simply not near worth the investment and maintenance by Blizzard to make a console version when it will not bring in that much extra revenue from subscriptions.

Now i don't believe any company is willing to just look away when a large number of people say 500,000+ are looking to buy their product even if it's on a console they may need to make changes for

I personally love MMORPG games & believe they are the ultimate in online experiences, World of Warcraft is not just an insanely popular MMORPG, it's done extremely well in it's design & engaging story

YouTube World of Warcraft if you would like to see just how amazing this is

Now i ask of you fellow PS3 owners to help by signing this petition & show Blizzard that we WANT this hugely popular MMORPG for the PS3 system

Blizzard has already stated that a console version of it's recently announced Diablo III could be done so i ask, why not give us this amazing MMORPG called World of Warcraft if such MMORPG games are now easily possible

I look forward to your help & thanks in advance, please do help to make this happen & even if your not a huge MMO player it will help mark an achievement to bring such a game to our beloved console

NO. JUST NO.

With the amount of work they have (D3, S2) and taking how old this game is.. I don't think there is any chance.

Pass on WoW. I played it for a year on PC. It got way too repetative for me. I tried picking it back up after a few months, but that just convinced me that I did the right thing by quitting.

And this is the exact reason why it will never be on the PS3, XBox, or any other console. The patch verification process would more or less put a halt to further development and balancing. In which case they would require a completely different build tree for the console version from the PC version. Different build tree means a different dev and design team. Once you figure in those costs there isn't a compelling business reason to put it on a console. This doesn't even get into the PR issues when something gets fixed on the PC version yet has to wait for the console version and the fact that the two couldn't play on the same servers. Just overall a bad idea.

I know a bunch of people like that, some who drop hundreds of dollars on WoW Gold Alone, I myself have NEVER played, and I NEVER Will, I don't see it necessary to have to pay 15 bucks a month to play a game after u spend 50-60 bucks on the disc. It's stupid, I hope WoW stays off PS3, Seriously, people who spend 90% of their lives in front of that game need to get a fricken life, It's called sunlight, jobs, and exercise people! plus I was never one of the whole D&D Scene, I'd much rather load up an AK and or a sniper rifle on COD and smoke some suckaz! heheheh...

It really goes beyond being a second life, but becomes your primary life. EVERYTHING I did in real life from ~ 2000 until 2004 revolved around EverQuest. When I ate, when I slept, when I worked, when I washed, when I went to the bathroom, when I traveled, when I dated, when I talked on the phone, when I watched TV, when I upgraded my PC -- everything. Your real life is the one that becomes secondary.

Overtime, everything faded out until EQ was the only thing that kept me interested, happy, and at peace. I was max level, good raid gear, and got as many AA's as I could get. I was constantly in a group, raid, or looking for group. I 'dated' on line characters, even going through an on line 'wedding'. If I couldn't find a group, I was chatting with guildmates while waiting or soloing or looking for someone to flirt with and hope it progressed. I watched TV only 4 times during that entire period, lost contact with all my old real life friends (online outside of EQ and off), cried over online breakups, lost sleep over corpse runs, forgot what a movie theater looked like inside, gained at least 50 lbs from sitting and drinking soda all day, didn't play ANY other game type but MMO's, and was always looking for the next big mmo fix as EQ started waxing old.

It got so bad, the only time I'd leave my house, much less my room was to get smokes, dinner was ready, or getting something to drink. My life was the world as a window beyond my computer screen. A place I'd rather be, and nothing else mattered. Pretend people, pretend armor, pretend money, pretend friendships, pretend lovers, and pretend marriages was the only thing that did matter. The fake world was real, and the real world was the fake one.

I remember being angry that sometimes I had to work later than usual, because I would be late to a raid and left out. If the job I had was on a swing, I'd schedule my days off for the more important raid nights. Ditching college classes (and subsequently dropping out ~ 2001) or work for a new expansion launch or patch. Skipping traveling vacations with my family because I would be away from EQ for a week. Jealous if my EQ SO was flirting with a 'new' person. I even quit a new job and was unemployed for over 9 months because the work schedules were too erratic to revolve my life around EQ and lied saying it was interfering with my college schedule (when I went back in 2003). Enough of that real life thing interference messing with me and my life.

Even more so, most of the people I played with on EQ was the same way. Their lives revolved around EQ and the characters there. Multiple people I knew dropped out of college. One person I know left her husband of 15 years, to go be with her EQ 'husband'. Another ditched his 2 teenage daughters to go be with someone from EQ 20 years younger -- never telling her until living together a year later. Another one of my friends got into Meth just to stay awake to play the game even longer (this happened somewhere between EQ to WoW). And yet another started feeling 'bad' while we were in a group, ignored it cause he was in a group, and DIED of a heart failure while playing WoW in which we were informed by his boyfriend of what happened. He had medical conditions anyway being a vet, so it's unknown if neglect caused it.

These were all the same people who played on EQ with me in my guild. We stuck together as a core group through various games. My only RL friend was also a fellow EQ player. He'd come over (because of his dad's complaining about his mmo addiction), bring his own PC, and even though we sat less than 1 foot away from each other, talk through the game using /tell. We'd stay up till 3 or 4am, wake up at noon, and start all over again. Most EQ players I knew transitioned to DaoC (along with myself) on the same server, got bored of that quickly, and returned to EQ. Later, we branched off into EQ2 and WoW, in which I played both but not with the same addiction.

I could say that if our guild did not break up between the two games (I didn't like WoW, i think it's vastly over-rated), and found launch EQ2 to suck at best, I would still be sitting day in and day out on an MMO somewhere.

Thankfully this transition happened right at the time I was starting to transition into normal life by going back to college, and finding a stable work place, and finding out that big bright ball in the sky that rose at an ungodly hour of 6am was the sun. That I should be waking up with the sun rise, and not going to bed with it. I later met my future wife through an FFXI / WoW friend, and thankfully, she didn't like MMO's. Finally my life started switch back into where it needed to be, and EQ and the addiction thereof was given a reason to be cut off. This all came to ahead when I started getting to involved into EQ2, and my future wife said it was either her, or EQ2.

Thank God she did that. Looking back, EQ was worse than any other addiction I've had including smoking. Even MMO's I played I couldn't help by comparing them to EQ. It really sucks you in slowly, and you keep begging for more. Nothing else is good enough. I feel sorry for those 8 million WoW players, as time goes on they too will get bored -- look for other games, but keep going back to their 'first'.

With all that said, I do believe MMO's should remain on the PC and not the console. At least with a PC, you're more apt to try to work for a living to increase your PC specs for an upcoming expansion. I think bringing MMO's to console is a bad idea for this generation of gamers. If people get to involved in FPS shooters and clans to start neglecting life, MMO's are the poison pill that will more than likely ruin or destroy the life they have.
That all is actually TRUE, really.

I've played 6 years of Everquest. Been up to the 6th or 7th expansion or so (I meant hardcore and high end, but I only had 1 char, so we'll say half-hardcore as stated above ), then started to think about life. Sure I've made great friends over the years (that I still meet over all Europe every year) but what have I done during this time ? Nothing !!! Eating dinner in front of the PC every evening, cancelling plans because there is a HUGE and IMPORTANT raid I have to go to, sometimes even loosing interest on my girlfriend ... During work, checking forums (from our guild and the servers forum, and even other guilds' forums, because we were interested in EVERYTHING, knew everybody's equipment and so on ... lol)

Most of the time you got mad at someone else (for multiple reasons, including selling Raid equipment for his own bank account, stealing targets, screwing up on a raid, running their mouth, having an attitude...) especially when you were an officer in a guild (like I was).

well, this game was a real social life killer, but man was it great ! WoW is nothing compared to it, nothing. (played WoW for 18 months, quit after we beat BWL cause I was bored as hell)

Anyway I think these games are designed for PC and should stay on it. Consoles are something else, sure now they become more and more like PCs, but I have to say I don't really like the sound of it.

I think (almost) everyone has a PC and if they want to play these games, they play on it. And as said above, the Hardware is evolutive on a PC to host the future expansions, which isn't possible on the PS3. A non-evolutive game (such as Starcraft 2) could be on PS3, but then again, can't play it without a mouse or keyboard (which you can plug but how many people have the right setup to play with a keyboard and mouse on a 37" Full HD TV?), and should also stay on a PC, except if they made a cool interface like they did for Civilization Revolution. But unlike Civ, it's real time strategy and this wouldn't work.

BTW, this is my favorite YouTube video for WoW.
I blame FFXI coming out on the PS2 for that game having the worst control system I've ever seen in a pc game. It was just pathetically bad.

Ugh we already have 80% noobs in there...adding PS3 players would make it 99% noobs.
