I am a teacher in training, and I support the teachers holding guns. Naturally it would only serve the same purpose of a condom (good if you have it, shitty if you don't), the teachers would not be allowed to draw it with out prior provocation.

I get many people saying "what if a student finds the gun", well that wont happen if the teacher knows he/she is to wear the gun, not keep it in the desk.

They dont just give them out to teachers.

The requirements are not to be a teacher, it is just that a TRAINED teacher can now carry, when before they could not.

Not every teacher will quallify, and not every teacher who does will carry.

A very large percentage of policemen shot are shot with their own gun. These are professional peace officers, selected and trained for an ability to physically control criminals, defend themselves, and who have lots of weapons training.

I've not heard that stat before. Regardless, this is two different situations. Police put themselves in dangerous situations to try and apprehend criminals. They are usually coming after someone who a) knows they are coming and b) in a lot of situations know the surrounding better than the police. Teachers on the other hand aren't going to go hunting the gunman. They more than likely will lock their door and "guard" their students until the police can subdue him. Now if I'm a gunman am I going to basically play Russian Roulette kicking in doors, hoping there's not a teacher on the other side with a gun pointed at chest level.

It's happened, but when you compare the number of total officers with the number of officers shot with their gun, the number is very small.

Thing is, Borat is acting since he's an actor, but that american gun guy is for real, i think a person can't get any weaker and lower like this person in this video.
If there's one thing I've learned about the internet, it's to pretty much ignore any post that starts with this.

And for every one of these stories, there are hundreds of others where someone's life was saved because they or some other law-abiding citizen had a gun with them. Sorry, but these incidents, though unfortunate and tragic, are no arguments for gun control. I have a CCDW license, and I feel much safer knowing I have the ability (and training) to protect myself and my family if need be.

I did not realize this until recently, which is one of the reasons I decided to get a license, but it has been decided in court that the police do NOT have a right/duty to protect individual citizens. This came down from a suit filed (in DC, I believe) where a woman was repeatedly raped in her home and I think her friend killed, while the police took hours to respond to the call. If you must see a link, I believe I can find it on the NRA website.

I really feel for those folks in Europe and elsewhere where the bleeding-hearts would rather all of the criminals have guns and the general population be unarmed. I defy anyone to show me valid proof where crime has actually gone down once the population was disarmed. It certainly has not been the case in any town/city/state in the US where unconstitutional gun bans/laws have been enacted.

Oh, and you can thank an American and his gun for the fact that all of Europe is not speaking German right now.

The scary thing, is that in Texas you could have an open beer while driving, as long as you were below the legal limit.... that was up until 5 years ago or something....

THAT is just crazy!

This law will be changed the first time a teacher shoots a kid by mistake and the state gets sued for millions of dollars. I think this is going a little to extreme, how about we let teachers dissaplin a kid first before we allow fire arms into schools. What happens if a kid somehow gets control of said guns and kills 10 or so people with it?

I trust a trained police officer to handle one in a situation, i dont think trusting teachers who might of put 3 hours into training at a shooting range is enough to let these people carry in their classrooms.

Well.... this is Blu-ray.com which means that it is a U.S. website, right? I understand that English isn't everyones first language here - if you want you can check out my post history you'll see that I've always been very accepting of that but not tolerant of Americans that don't even know our own language.

And yes, I was the 2nd poster and I felt that this could be a pretty volatile thread that could get way out of hand. I never said that I don't have firm beliefs on this topic.

Oh no! A kid could get the gun from a teacher and shoot someone??? Riiiiiiiiiight. In case you didn't notice....there's been a lot of school shootings lately. Not ONE of them involved a weapon obtained from a staff member. All the weapons were brought from home.

Hmmm...what else. Oh yes...it is NOT 3 hours at a shooting range in order to get a license to carry a concealed firearm in Texas. It's a minimum 10 hour course and most of that time is spent in a classroom talking about use of force, firearms safety, and non-violent conflict resolution.

Also please note that this is a CONCEALED handgun. The students wouldn't know which staff member had one - and I doubt that a student would just randomly beat up teachers and staff members until he found one with a gun.

I used to teach gun-safety courses. Arush is correct.... if the student even knows the Teacher has a gun, more than likely the teacher has already broken a law (brandishing)

You like to argue about stupid stuff. Domain names are registered under the www.xxxxx.com prefix. Check out Godaddy.com for a better understanding. Forum.blu-ray is a location within the sites layout . Anyways someone with better terminology can explain it. You have proven my point
