Now let's get back on topic.

In term of pricing, I think Sony may plan something with LBP.
Perhaps a seperate bundle? With a limited time low price tag. Just for the holiday season. Or not.
I would not be surprised if they market LBP towards families and younger kids. It is friendly game that can be enjoyed by many. IT could help increase PS3 sales to families since it is kid friendly and it has the blu ray player. Even it would be marketed to families and younger audiences, LBP, has received a lot of good publicity in recent game shows. It is already well known with older audiences.

As much as I'd like that to happen, I fear what if people complain when the bundle life come to an end. If all that's left after the holiday season is a regular PS3 with its regular pricetag, some people might think "Damn Sony, they made it cheap and now they made it pricy again! Those greedy bastard." Then they go spread the word to everyone they know and less people would step up to buy the regular PS3.

That's a highly exaggerated vision of the future of course, but boy would that be a nightmare.

I can't imagine a limited time price drop would be a good idea on their part.

Afterall, there's still people out there thinking the PS3 controller is not wireless, and for online play it lags and keep disconnecting, etc. Hmm, I wonder where they hear all this from, and who's spreading it.

But you are right with what you said there, as long as consumers do enough research this holiday season, the PS3 definately offer a bang for the buck. With, or without a price drop.
Sorry I missed your post.

What people think the PS3 controller is not wireless? That sounds like that group of people would be in the very small minority. Anyway, I think a lot of people don't realize that you can't take advantage of ANY X360 game that has online capability built-in for $60 unless they pay an additional $50 a year. Weird, huh?!

As much as that sounds far fetch, and a bit exaggerated. It's true. Sadly.

There are people out there who still think the PS3 controller are not wireless.
Example, they go to their friends house and watch their friend play a game with the USB wire connect to the controller into the system for charging purposes, and they would assume that the control is wired.

These people still exist, and to make it worse, I encounter these group of uneducated people last weekend. Human stupidity has no limit I tell you.

If only they would do more research, but no, they decide to walk into a store and dissed the PS3 "wired" controllers.

If Microsoft & Sony wanted to dominate in sales to be in 1st place than they should have gone with a price similar to the Wee console from the beginning.

I personally continue to be happy with both systems...both are very powerful, and it all comes down to the developers....

I personally think if you really love video game $299 isn't to much to pay
to have access to games like Gears of War, and other 360 games like Ninja Gaiden II...

But if you can only have or want one it's the PS3 hands down...

As for the pricing issue.....I suspect if they lower the price it'll only be $50
to $349.00

Then they would both (ps3 and competition) would of have to have last gen hardware to accomplish that Do not knock advancement and who is in business to lose that much money. Nintendo is selling no doubt about it, but it is no way, shape or form a next gen console. Sony has always been one to push new technology and hardware, as has microsoft......for that I am happy with the position they are in (sony will knock someone off soon and move up by christmas though ). But no one predicted nintendo in it's current position, and they deserve it, but lets be fair how long can you ride on a console that is selling well and a fan base that is "starving" for mature AAA games without mario in the title?

Bundles come, bundles go, the ps3 has already had a few bundles that are no longer around (including the free blu-ray bundles/orders), same with the 360. If I were Sony, I wouldn't even blink at worrying about consumers who wouldn't pony up the cash during the holidays complaining in February about no longer getting a free game with the console-if you don't get one for christmas, you probably don't consider getting a ps3 as a high priority.

Unfortunately, I don't find a $400 console even with a bundled new release game to be that "family friendly" of a price, especially compared to the competition (among which I would include the ps2)

I wasn't talking about a regular bundle with a new game inside. What I meant was a special bundle with LBP and a special limited time low price. Just for the holiday season. Say 299??

Again, they'll be losing a ton and people will rush to buy like crazy. But once this bundle go out and all that's left is the regular ps3 with its regular price, then what? Would those who miss out on this short term deal be upset? I know it's their fault for not getting it on time, but would you think they'll be blaming Sony as well?

That's what I meant when I talked about this whole special bundle strategy deal.

But of course this strategy would probably do them no good huh.

A temporary price drop and an included new release game? Looking back, I see where you said that, but I skimmed right past it, because I can't see them doing both a temporary drop and a new game inside. That strikes me as unrealistic. Old game bundled or two+ $50 gift card for $399, I can see (say resistance pack or gt5p)
