I had the similar problem. There's no such thing as RGBHV. Just grab the component AV cables. They can be put through the green, blue, red, white(audio), red (audio) inputs on the back of your 1080i. It presents superb picture quality. The official Sony brand is the one I have and I got it for only $19.99 at Best Buy compared to the overprice $100 Monster cables.

when I play 1080p movies on my new 32" LCD, it downscales to 1080i...I check the settings and I thought this was because when you check off compatible resolutions, it has 1080i preferred 'higher' than 720p...

I didn't try this, but I thought about unchecking the 1080i as an option to see if it would go to 720p....I'd prefer 720p over 1080i...

but from what it sounds like...the 720p is only for games and not for movies (unless they made a 720p movie)

720p favors action movies and 1080i favors drama type movies...this is probably why I see alot of grain on certain scenes in Kingdom of Heaven...
