It would be really awesome if Scorsese would direct a movie that has both DeNiro and Dicaprio in it together! That would kick ass.

Pacino, Pecsi and De Niro together on a Scorsese production?!

Quote:
It's Goodfellas meets Casino meets Heat. So if you're a fan of those great Martin Scorsese mob movies, get ready: I'm told Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are now circling The Irishman, the mob drama that Scorsese and Robert De Niro have been working on together based on the exploits of mob hitman Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran as chronicled in the book I Heard You Paint Houses. The pic's being developed at Paramount by De Niro and Jane Rosenthal's Tribeca Productions.

Pacino has worked with De Niro in the Michael Mann-directed classic Heat, as well as Righteous Kill. Pesci and De Niro of course teamed with Scorsese on Goodfellas, Casino and Raging Bull. Steve Zaillian wrote the script.

Right now, Scorsese's off directing the 3D Hugh Cabret for GK Films, and this is one of a couple pictures he's considering next. Others include Silence, based on the Shusako Endo novel. Scorsese and GK Films nearly had the pic together with Benicio Del Toro, Daniel Day-Lewis and Gabriel Garcia Bernal in the Jay Cocks-scripted saga of Jesuits who face danger as they preach Christianity and try to find their mentor in 17th Century Japan. Scorsese will be in New York Wednesday as HBO premieres the pilot he directed for Boardwalk Empire, which is superb.
Could be a gangster film fan's dream come true!

Sounds promising, DeNiro, Scorcese, Pesci, Pacino, & Steve Zailian on board to script it too?! Please let THIS be the definitive (or one of them) "pairing" of DeNiro & Pacino, unlike "Righteous Kill". I caught that last week (Dvr'd) & while it wasn't as horrendous as I'd read/heard from people, it wasn't Too far off either. Which was a letdown considering the Director (Jon Avnet)

Anyway, I guess we'll see. Marty, choose THIS project next!!!

He's a good actor but let's face it: he'll never be a Deniro, Pacino or a Pesci. If he's cast in a leading role, he'll just be the LCD (lowest common denominator)

DiCaprio is a WAY better actor than Pesci.

I gotta disagree strongly. I think DiCaprio is this generations DeNiro/Pacino, I can hardly think of more than a couple of actors currently putting out movies with performances that are as good as his. DiCaprio was on par with Nicholson in The Departed so there is no reason to believe he couldn't match DeNiro or Pacino for acting chops if they were in the same movie.

Well first of all, the book is good. And second, you seem to be a big movie fan and you rather not watch a Martin Scorsese movie? For someone with 400 + movies, 2 hours shouldn't mean anything to you. Now get to watching, and form your own real opinion.

Thank you, come again.

IMO Shutter Island may not quite be Goodfellas/The Departed but it also isn't far behind and would definitley be as good as something like Casino. Still a AAA title by any stretch of the imagination and a must see and a must own.

The Irishman has the potential to be the crowning achievement of Marty's directing career. I'm already trying not to hype it up in my mind too much.

Default Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman" (2018)

Whatever happened to The Irishman, a movie that was to be directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci? De Niro said it would be made, but that was around 4 years ago.
