Yeah, my little sister's going tonight. I have to wait until tomorrow night (gotta get up for work tomorrow morning and enjoy sleep too much). I just rewatched the first 4 and can't wait to learn Hoffman's backstory. And of course I wanna see the twist ending before it gets spoiled on me.

I hear Cary Elwes's lawsuit has been cleared up and all parties have kissed and made up, so maybe Gordon might have a surprise appearance (even if it's only a flashback). Hoffman nursed Matthews back to health and kept him captive. Who's to say he didn't do the same for Gordon? I know, I know... I doubt it too. Still, you never know with this series. They managed to keep Donnie Wahlberg's appearance in part 3 a secret.

I will be seeing this at midnight tonight too. For me the first one was amazing, 2-3 weren't good, 4 was better and a step in the right direction. I just like the deaths in the movie. I could care less for the 15 million attempts at twisting the plot.

What! the plot twists are the best part.. except in part 4 with wahlbergs death.. holy god slow-moing that thing was beautiful.

Yeah, Det. Matthews was my favorite character in the series. But I guess after 3.5 movies (he was introduced in an extra on the DVD for part 1), it was time to go. He was originally supposed to die in part 3 afterall. At least we got an extra movie with the character.

Really? Maybe I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed 2 and 3 and thought 4 was pretty weak and getting to be quite tiresome, which is why I'm not that stoked about 5, but I'll be seeing it eventually. I'm sure you guys will let us know how good, mediocre, or bad it ends up!

Hahaha. I can never understand why people are so fascinated with Alba other than the fact she's pretty hot. She's a horrible actress. There are plenty of hot actresses who can also act well, but I guess to each his own, you're right.

I keep checking RT just for reviews to see how bad it is, but apparently no critics want to see it either

They aren't bringing back Dr. Gordon. But Tapp will be back.

I stopped watching after Saw 3. But I like that theme that comes at the end of the movies....best part is the end in my opinion.

That's because Lionsgate isn't confident enough in the final product to let reviewers see it early. It's usually a bad sign for most films if they aren't screened in advanced for critics, but horror movies in general aren't well received by critics so if people loved 1-4, then they should definitely see this to make up their own minds. Though if I remember correctly, Saw 1 and to a lesser extent 2, received plenty positive reviews by critics. Saw 3 got mixed reviews, and 4 got mostly negative I believe.

Some great reviews!

"This is unmistakably one of the worst horror films of the year. It's the last dying gasp of a series that was already past its expiration date... "

"It doesn't just insult your intelligence; It assumes you have none."

"SAW V attempts to make the audience feel smart for sticking along for so long, only when it's all said and done you'll feel like a fool for sitting through this disappointment."

"The first three Saws were at least plausible within the grotesque terms of the premise. The fourth was ridiculous and this, the fifth, is laughable. "

to me personally, it doesn't matter what others say about a movie. i wait to make my own opinion about it after i see it.

as someone else has already said, horror movies are trashed by critics anyway so why screen them in advance???

i personally liked all 4 of this series so far and will gladly buy it when it comes out to own even w/o seeing it in the theater.

Some horror movies do well, but when you use the same cookie cutter formula for a series..THEN they get trashed.

to be fair, studios know horror movies cost hardly anything to make and have the potential to rake in a lot of money (case in point: saw). if i could figure out a way to drop $20 mil. and make $80 mil., i'd do it too.

it doesn't matter what the critics like so why catter to them?? it only matters what the audience will like b/c they are the ones paying to see the movie.

it's not like a horror movie is gonna be really "deep" anyway. all it's gonna boil down to is people dying in really gruesome ways.

i'll say it again, i really like this series. it hasn't gotten old for me the way the Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Nightmare series' have. it's gonna make money regardless of how much people bash it.
