Course now my grandma would set him staright give him huge boxes of clothes..

Or better yet do the whole box inside box inside a box inside a box method till you get to a very small box, with a psn card in it.

you guys are awesome and have helped a lot, believe it or not.
You said he's interested in MK vs DC because of the DC characters - is he a comics fan?

If so, there is also all sorts of comic book stuff that could be options.

For about the same price as a PS3 game you could get the Rising Stars hardcover:
http://www.amazon.com/Rising-Compend...29/ref=ed_oe_h
or the Captain America Omnibus:
http://www.amazon.com/Captain-Americ...ref=pd_sim_b_2

Both really good comics. Rising Stars is self-contained and written by JMS.

Let's see, at 12 I was reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and such - if he likes superheroes and is a thinker, Rising Stars would probably be a hit.

Also, ignore Phantom Oak's comment that no 12 year old would like LBP - I've always loved platformers and Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers were favorites of mine right along with Metal Gear, Metroid, and Castle Wolfenstein. Look at what he likes about the games he plays to see if he would like LBP, not what any of us here generalize.

You're kidding right?

While I don't begrudge ratings, every kid is different and every parent needs to make their own decisions. At about that age I saw Aliens in the theater with my uncle - still consider it one of the best movies out there.

And of course the MK series has been available in arcades for years - we all turned out ok, right? *twitch* *twitch*

(For anyone who is taking this seriously, please replace MK with Road Runner and Willie Coyote, Popeye, or the Three Stooges before attempting a serious reply....)

Default I'd go with option 1

He likes MK and he's interested in the newest version so why not get him that?

As for Guitar Hero 3 or WT vs LBP, I wouldn't be interested (and at this age I'm still not interested) in LBP. I played GH II from the day it came out until GH III came out and I've been playing that ever since (and still do) so I definitely recommend that, especially since he mentioned GH.

I didn't see any post that says he's interested in LBP so I'm assuming he hasn't mentioned it. If he hasn't maybe he isn't interested in it or hasn't seen it. I'd check with him first before getting this.

Yes the rating police have been notified and there getting into there golf cart and slowly driving towards the op, hopefully they will get there before they lose interest and go back home.

Haha no its up to the parents.. mine were very stingy on them, and anything that was M rated when I was 16 or 17 had to be reviewed closely group discussions with other parents, grandma and aunt and uncle were always put into these decisions as well.

After the group discussions with other parents, discussions with family members and private findings from my own parents research the purchase was either allowed or not.

Whats funny is im 24 now, and I still get carded, when buying M rated games, and sometimes they take there time checking to see if its fake.. :- Would probably help if I got the id after I turned 21... haha.

When I went to buy half life 2 I forgot my id, they told me I could not have it thankfully I was there helping my mom shop for groceries, so my mom ended up buying it since they said the person who pays for it has to have the id, btw they carded my 66 year old mother, at her own total shock and suprise...

Nice story aye.

Your parents rock that's the way to do it.

And trust me - enjoy the baby face - you'll be loving it when you're in your 30s and look like you're in your 20s.

Choice 1.

A 12 year old would probably dismiss LBP as "for kids".

The more I think about it the more I think you should go with GH and LBP. Both of them will have way more replay value and who knows, maybe GH will get him interested in music and that might lead to something he'll enjoy the rest of his life.. Both of those games are far more unique than MK and if it turns out he has to have MK it will definitely see a price drop before LBP and GH.

I voted for 3.

I'd have voted for 2 if you switched "Guitar Hero" with "Rock Band".

#2 for me
I really liked fighters at that age but LBP is guaranteed to be a better game.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check them out... Hadn't heard of the Captain America one.
