Hey,

I'm stopped buying comletely. Not that I think the current events really have any bearing on our ability to afford Blu Rays but since this silly crisis thingie started my Wife worries about money 24/7.

That being the case... I'm just waiting till she stops freaking out to resume collecting Blu. In the meantime... I have a list that ever growing of things to buy once the hysteria is over.

I didn't lose my job, in July I got a pay raise instead of a cut, I don't buy & sell stocks as a form of income, and I didn't buy a house I couldn't afford with a loan I never should have signed (ARM). Inflation has not grown exponentially, and other than the news media gnashing their teeth the only sign of 'problems' I saw personally was that gas was $4 a gallon.

"The potential that something bad might happen" is no more prevelant than it was 5 years ago. The difference now, is that people are paying attention. And panicking. And small businesses are suffering because people are scared to spend money because "something bad might happen"; making it easier for something bad to happen.

Hasn't really affected me at all. Although I have started being a little more picky with the titles I buy.

I've stopped completely but not becasue of the economy, its because all the money that i would have spent on blus is going towards the savings for the new receiver...

I'm spending way more than a few weeks ago, but only because I didn't own a blu player until last week!

At this point the only thing affecting my BD spending is Warner's lack of lossless audio low-bitrate video. Otherwise I am not affected (yet) by the slowing economy.

I am buying about as much as I was before or at least for the past year. I had cut down my DVD buying by a lot since summer 2007. Was getting tired of tons of DVD that were being watched only once. Since then been buying things I know I will just keep on watching for years to come

Same here. This is why I always tell everyone that although I don't expect anything, if you do decide to get me something make it an Amazon, Fry's, Best Buy, etc., gift certificate and nothing else. I've also the last couple of years made a point of buying the majority of gifts from Best Buy where I can at least accumulate rewardzone points. This way I'll get some return that I can put back into Blu's.

I think the people that this affects, are those that probably could barely afford it to begin with. I personally have not curbed any spending due to the economy. I am actually spending more to help BOOST IT! Everyone should be doing this. Not spending less, but MORE!

I never really liked hearing how people have to give up going out to eat because of this or that or blah blah. Maybe I am not sensitive but umm.. boohoo? At least you have a house, car and a job. If you don't have one of those, then I feel for you.

I have been frugal all along; my Blu purchases will not change much.

Not too much but I could stand to hold off on a few blu's and save for a new receiver.

No, it doesn't affect my buying right now. As you can see from my collection, I've only bought 19 BDs in the over four months I've had my PS3. The problem now is that there are some major games arriving that'll cut into my Blu-ray watching for a bit. Nothing to do with the economy, it's just the timing of releases.

Thankfully my system is pretty much where I want it. That custom built HTPC/Audio server I have wanted to build has been put on the back burner.
I went from Vhs to Laserdisc to DVD and other than very special blu releases I wont be replacing most of my standard dvd with blu.
I am taking advantage of all the sales, Columbia House, Amazon, Inet, Best Buy. In total I have bought 82 Blu-Rays in 2 months at an average price of 13.50 cents. I am going to blow-it up on Black Friday if there are more sales. I have 672 DVD's and want to replace all good ones with Blu-Rays. Keep it up guys, Blu needs you great Americans, Europeans, etc.... By the way, I will drop the hammer on the new Sony 5000ES next month..spend baby spend....keep John McCains doctrine going....spend baby spend

Well put. I couldn't agree more. I have cut back dramatically on everything. I chose food differently now. I stopped eating out alot. In the last two weeks, I stopped eating out entirely.

It's amazing how emotion can dictate the stock market, how people shop, etc. The biggest thing the government did is lose the faith of the people.
