Does anyone know how to get a hold of an English speaking customer service representative for FNAC from the USA?

Default Amazon.de changing prices

I've noticed a disturbing trend with Amazon.de. I pre-order a lot of items from Amazon.de. I've noticed in my last several orders that the price I was charged at shipping was substantially higher than the price that I was given at the time of order. This even includes those items that they proudly proclaim that I saved money due to pre-order price guarantee. Couple examples:

I ordered Gran Torino Blu-ray SteelBook on May 14, 2009 for 27.91 Euro (without VAT). It was shipped on July 14, 2009 with a price of 30,99 Euro.
I ordered RockNRolla Blu-ray SteelBook on May 14, 2009 for 15.94 Euro (without VAT). It was shipped on July 22, 2009 with a price of 17.99 Euro. Amazon.de sent me an email saying that I saved 0.98 Euro because the price dropped from 18.97 Euro to 17.99 Euro.

I don't know why this is occurring. It doesn't happen with all the items so I don't think it's a systemic problem. In each case, customer service has refunded the difference without any question, but you have to keep a close eye on what you paid and what you were charged in the end.

any one know a of a place to order fewer polysleeves or something very similar? I have no need for 100 as I only have the Snow White one and will be getting the UP one also. I know it is cheap and I might have to go that route, but ordering 10 or less would do it for me. TIA

This thread is like a FAQ, might as well add to the First Post that Media Markt releases can only be bought in Store

(This reply is about the UK release of these movies)

I've just bought my first Blu-Ray movies (Star Trek 11, Tropic Thunder and Terminator Salvation).

Star Trek 11 and Terminator Salvation both come in exclusive steelbooks from Play.com

From what I have read, users here hate infolabels on the back (synopsis of the movie in question, special features listings) and age rating stickers on the front.

Why is that?

I like reading info about the movie I am watching from the back of the cover and the appropiate age rating on the front just makes it feel more 'familiar' so why do some people here hate them?

I'd rather have the Steelbook versions of Star Trek 11 and Terminator Salvation, but with back labels and age stickers that STAY there and dont come off with the transparent wrapping.

It was done with the DVD steelbook releases of the Back To The Future Trilogy (weren't stickers, printed on the case) and Cloverfield, so why isn't it done with Blu-Ray?

Those stickers and labels ruins the cover. Without them and jsut the picture its a whole lot cleaner.

For people that display their copies it just looks so much nicer without them.

Hey jw...

Might be time to update this thread with IronPack pictures? Perhaps the ones on page 13 of the Terminator Salvation thread will work?

Blu-ray cases and DVD cases are different in height.. Most of us here that collect BD steelbooks prefer them to be uniform in height hence why I don't collect BD steelbooks that are DVD sized..

There are a select few here that does collect DVD steelbooks but I can't see BD steelbook collectors here buying DVD steelbooks just to replace the DVD disk inside with blu-ray disk.. If anything, some of us don't even open the seal

Default Steelbooks

I've seen a lot of discussion on the trade boards regarding Steelbooks. It seems they always are 2-4x the price of a regular blu. A poster wanted over $40 per Pirates Steelbook, when all three regular blus can be had for that same price.

Do Steelbooks come with any additional features? An extra disc or better quality? Or is the steel case the entirety of the upgrade? I'm a fairly new blu collector, and trying to determine if collecting these is worth the inordinate amount of money they demand.

The steelbook releases do not offer anything in content variation over the regular releases. However, they are often printed in limited quantities with said casing. Therefore, they are more valuable from a collectors point of view, but not as a monetary investment. As for the price? $40 for 1 steelbook Blu-ray is actually quite reasonable. Many steelbooks originate in countries outside of the U.S. Therefore, whoever is selling it is usually having to incorporate the shipping fees into the price, which is usually $29.99 to begin with as a collectible item.

Example: Iron Man Steelbook Blu-ray cost $29.99 and was only available at FutureShop in Canada. So, anyone selling that would have to incorporate the shipping charge of having that delivered to them in the U.S. That could easily bring the price close to $40. However, in this particular case, Iron Man is fetching a much more appropriate "COLLECTORS PRICE." (http://cgi.ebay.com/Iron-Man-2008-Bl...item2eaa4ba316)

Personally, I love the look of the steelbooks better. And, the cases offer far more security for my favourite content. I've become addicted to them. But, I'm also lucky enough to be able to get them at the retail price upon release in most cases.

Thanks. That's part of my concern, that I would be become addicted! My budget is already limited.

Do you think the price of new releases will eventually drop, or more importantly, drop anytime within the next couple years?

Steelbooks in my opinion are nice replicas of regular Dvds, usually containing an extra disc with added features. I find surprisingly the cost isnt any hire than a typical Dvd. I was sure the companies would take advantage of the case, passing it off as something more than it is. But really, Steelbooks are very cool and I hope to expand my collection of them in the near future.

Those sleeves on the front say DVD size sleeves. Does that mean they will cover the steelbooks cleanly or will they be to big?
