Can u send me the link from Amazon???

I will admit that I initially thought plasma was nothing special until I decided that I wasn't satisfied with the black level of my LCD. Its not bad, but I just had the feeling I could do better. I visited a Circuit City in my area that has dimmer lighting in the television area than most stores I've previously visited(BestBuy..Cough, cough...Sears..cough) and they had a Panny in between some Sony, Samsung, JVC, and Toshiba LCD's. At first I thought, better...maybe, but barely. Then I stepped back about 15ft or so, and it was a slaughter! The black level and overall pop of the picture was all too apparent. I knew at that moment it was plasma all the way. I even gave up on 1080p and went to 768p since the 1080p Panny's were out of my price range at the time, and I don't regret it one bit! I suggest that you do yourself a favor and dig a little deeper in your research before making such a reckless statement. I've spent God knows how much time researching tv's before I settled. Almost went with a Samsung plasma, but the Panny had a sharper picture. I get nothing but compliments on my tv when people come over and most of my friends have LCD's. My one friend with a Sammy plasma prefers my tv too.
I'm in the process of exchanging my Samsung 860 LCD for a Panny 800u plasma. I was just not happy with the black levels, black crush and clouding. I am supposed to get the Panny on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

As far as getting the 800u the cheapest, find someone who has a Panasonic Purchase Program through their employer. They are dirt cheap. Local B&M's told me that they are below their cost for the 50" @ $1621.00.

Panasonic's Employee Purchase Plan (EPP). If you work for a company who has a relationship with Panasonic, you are eligible for that discount price.

Pity the Panasonic Canada price is nowhere near that.
Employee purchase price on the TH-50PZ80U (that's the 80U, not the 800U) is $1760.

Not all CRTs had good black levels, yes in general you
could say cheap CRTs have better blacks that cheap LCDs.

There are a whole lot of good quality flat panels on the current
market, MANY very nice ones.

So even if said CRTs have better blacks , then id say
there sure is a heck of a lot more great looking
flat panels on the market , good CRTs never numbered
this high.

Personally , as far as best goes, nobody can take that
title right now with the current market.
You can say that some are better on some things.
In a perfect world we would each have a Pioneer Elite
and a Sony Bravia XBR.
