Default The Wheel of Time series gets a story director

The Wheel of Time series gets a story director

Expect blockbuster action in the Wheel of Time videogames. Professional screenwriter Chris Morgan is directing the story for Red Eagle Entertainment’s forthcoming videogame series. Morgan is the writer of numerous Hollywood flicks including such greats as Cellular, Wanted, The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The Wheel of Time series is a mess of cold stares and plot holes, but we’re guessing that’s not why Morgan was given the job as story director. The videogame series is described as a set of games “derived” from Robert Jordan’s fiction, thus -- and we’re guessing here -- writers are need to plug in whatever game-y elements are needed to flesh out the digital experience.

We’re cool with this choice as long as we don’t glimpse Rand steering his horse around slick street bends or evading police in future teaser trailers. That would be a bigger bummer than the typical cold (or icy) stare

Love the books, but does anyone really believe the entire story can be done on film? Please. The Rings worked because it was only a trilogy. There isn't enough money in Hollywood to produce 13 to 16 novels of material in a meaningful way. I hate to rain on the video parade but, as any avid reader knows, it is extremely hard for a film director to create as good or better a vision before my eyes as the author did through the written page.

This is about a video game not a movie. You are posting in the PS3 section of Blu-ray.com.

This IS NOT about a video game. Somebody JUST moved this to the PS3 forum for some idiot reason. This was originally in the General Discussion section. This is originally about a MOVIE being made from a BOOK series. Read the rest of the topic, Mike. There is a 99% higher chance of a video game of the Wheel of Time series being worse than a movie or T.V. series.

Whoever moved this to the PS3 forum needs to move it back, because there's really not much of a chance of this even making it to the PS3. IF somebody makes video games of the series, it will be on the PC. Again, I don't think there's even much WANT out of WoT fans for a video game series, but there IS for movies.....

Are you serious? I'm the OP. I know exactly what I posted in the thread and where I posted it.

My apologies about it not originally being a game post, but you COMPLETELY edited your original post already, too. Check post #12, it has a quote from YOU about a movie option being picked up by Universal. From that point in the thread on, most of it was about the movies. That is where I got my "mis-remembering."

I still say this should be in the General Discussion forum, though, as it's not about a PS3 game (yet.)

Its all good man!

BTW, what was quoted in post 12 is still in the original post.

All I changed was the title, added an additional article, and put in an image.

Personally, Ill take any good series from any good writer. Ive read the first six books of WoT, and found it to be pretty good.

The bigger question i have, is how can you guys talk about great fantasy writers and not mention R.A. Salvatore??? Rag on the D&D crowd all you want, and yes alot of books from both series follow the same beat to a science like techno music, but his books from all his different series really show his worth. Not to mention the worlds he's created.
