So are you saying the Zune is some kind of HUGE money maker that could possibly make up what the 360 has lost? Seriously? Or maybe Games for Windows? Really?

Mac Office is what makes all of the money in EDD, it always has. I still don't see the justification for Mac Office to be in EDD other than to hide 360 losses, of course. |

Neither of those articles say the 360 is profitable, Sony also said the reason they lost less money this year is due to improvements in the PS3 manufacturing, doesn't mean it's making money.

I'm sure that mac office is profitable, but would question exactly how profitable. Mac's themselves do not make up a large percentage of computers, and a good percentage of mac users are so fiercely mac loyal, and would never consider an MS alternative when comparable mac products exist.

If they have no money and are struggling financially, they shouldn't be trying to acquire anything, especially Ericsson, MGM or videogames developers like the Level 5 rumor. Last edited by AranhaHunter; 12-09-2008 at 05:57 PM. |

Breaking a record doesn't prove anything without actual numbers. As I said.... macs are less than 10% of the overall computer marker and many mac users are very anti ms so it would be good to see actual numbers. I doubt it's in the area to make up supposed huge 360 losses. |

Its climbed in recent days against the dollar and according to market observers it will rise even further up against the dollar in 09. Its also trading very well against Sterling.

Tech blogs is not many Mac users, just the geeky ones, the majority of mac users are just like the majority of windows users: They do not go to blogs and do not know a damn thing about technology.

There is not any immediate danger to the core business. Yes some parts are not profitable and they will need to be cut (some of the cheaper Bravia TVs, the lower end front projectors, and other stuff) and staff will need to be laid off to reflect the reduced production.
Sure the headline sounds bad, but eventually the WW economy will pick up, people will have paid down their debts to a sustainable level and the world will be in the mood to spend. So why cut prices like mad and fire 50,000 people to reflect those price cuts, like other companies are thinking of doing (Samsung, namely), instead of running a tight ship cutting fewer jobs, seeing increased profit and emerging better out of a recession. As of now Sony have got about $8bn short term equity, they are not in trouble in the slightest. Companies in trouble are GM, who have a $24bn short term liability and $59bn long term liability. The company is technically bankrupt, they are only worth $2.5bn by market cap, but they owe $59bn to various organisations and people. American Airlines is in pretty bad shape, for a company of that size to have less than $1bn in short term equity shows that they will find it difficult to survive if the airline industry were to go through more upheaval. |

That's a very small, but very vocal minority. You should see the people that actually use Macs, most of them (like PC users) don't give two shits about who made what, and where it comes from. The fact that Mac Office is awesome means it sells extremely well to the 150m WW Mac users, so what if a few thousand go onto forums and blogs and chat shit about everything that isn't a Mac. There are a lot of people who do the same for many products!
