Is it really that different? Hmm, I was going to pick this up at launch but it sounds like I should rent it and see for myself

I don't know why some people are complaining about the controls, the TPC is pretty simple to me. I have no problem pulling off combos. Yea it takes a little practice, but what's wrong with that? This game is the most sim boxing game I've ever played and is crapping all over Fight Night Round 3.

A lot of FN3 fans are pissed because they can't use buttons and parry all day like they used to. This totally made the game unplayable online because everyone wanted to parry then issue a four punch combo from the "buttons". This in no way is real boxing. FN4 allows you to stick and move from the outside or be an inside fighter. In round 3 you just had to go toe to toe, or judge jab all day with Roy Jones. And the roster is a pretty good one if you follow the sport.

I've played UFC and it's a pretty good game, but career mode is pretty lame and the CPU is really easy. Online is pretty cool, but I don't think it will touch FN4. Do some research on the online tournament mode FN4 is having where you create your own boxer and fight for belts in different weight classes. The FN4 demo is really good and the final product will be even better because Brizzo and the EA Canada team are actually tweaking some of the problems in the demo. I already pre ordered and I can't wait til 6/25.

The buttons aren't only used for what your stating. It actually lets you control your punch where you WANT it to go. If you honestly believe this is the most realistic boxing game you have played...well I am sorry. It honestly plays just like Ready to Rumble boxing. There is fluidity to the movements and or the style of punching. In FNR3 it isn't at all about going toe to toe or jabbing as you clearly state, you can stick and move, go inside, block like a normal boxer. I mean why does the camera pan out and have an aura on the screen when you do a combo? That's pretty realistic if you ask me....................JK...I truly hope they are tweaking MANY of the problems that lie in this demo since they only have about 1/2 month till they need to make it gold and start getting the game ready for store shelves. I still wont be buying this unless somehow they put out a new demo with many improvements. And UFC definitely needs some improvement but lets see here Fight Night is on its like 7th installment (Including Knockout Kings being Fight Night before it was released) and UFC is on its 3rd installment) I will give the belt to UFC on this one since if they expand their game for the next UFC I don't see a Fight Night Round 5 coming out anytime soon....IMO but honestly I hope that the final product proves me wrong and that I can say the game is decent but based on the demo I would rather stick to UFC and looking at Fight Night Round 4 on the store shelves because I am not wasting my money on something that isn't improved at all.

They've been utilizing button controls or "button mashing" in boxing game since, who knows...Button mashing didn't start from FNR3, it's been on it since Knockout Kings series (now Fight Night) back in the ps2 days. They've had the TPC since fight night round 1 with cover of Roy Jones. But they also gave you the option of using the buttons in which I prefer. So are you guys saying there will be no BUTTON MASHING on this new game?! I'll stick to my UFC.

How can you knock FN4, when FN3 has the following:

1. Boxers who freeze when they get parried.
2. A garbage career mode
3. Haymaker fests
4. Pacquaio and Ali entering the ring to dipset
5. Overdone KO animations
6. Horrible online lag
7. Button vs. TPC online = Button punches landing faster
8. You win belts, but you never see them
9. Limited arenas
10. No type of authentic boxing presentation.

Trust me, I can go on.

You sound like one of those people who used buttons and now don't wanna take the time to learn TPC. The game is amazing and the problems you talk about were being tweaked. The demo was finished 7 weeks before it was released. The counter window has been closed more and the foot speed has been tweaked. Trust me, I'm heavy in the FN4 forums and most of the issues have been addressed. Go look up recent fight videos if you don't believe me.

And on another note, yes this is FN's 4th installment, excluding KOK. However, this is EA Canada's first run at the series. They installed an all new engine and used nothing from Round 3. How can you say that UFC has won the belt when you only played an old demo of FN and UFC has released an entire game. And to show that FN is making changes the Pac's and Hatton's bodies have already been altered from the demo version because people were complaining about how they looked on the demo.

I saw a youtube video a month ago interviewing one of the FN4 developers. He said "they wanted to give what fans want", lot of the FN gamers use and want button mashing. So where is it?

So you guys would not buy a game because buttons have been dismissed? Whatever happened to trying to master something new? TPC is not hard at all once you get used to it.

Ive loved fight night since it was knockout kings series. There's a high chance that people aren't going to buy this game because of it. Who wants to try something new when they're already use to one thing. Reason why fight night is still around is because of the ability to still use buttons. If they really wanted to do away the buttons, they would have done that 5 years ago when the first fight night came out. Do you honestly think it will sell as much as it has if they kept the TPC? do you think people would still have bought FNR2, FNR3?

This game will sell because EA knows how to market a game. Each year Madden is crap, and people complain on forums all day long. But Madden still sells every year. I've not bought a game for a lot of reasons, but never because the controls were changed. I just learned them. I guess some people like a challenge and some are stuck in there way. Oh well, I'll be getting it and that's all that matters.

2. A garbage career mode (Vague but it does offer increased difficulty as well as a good "foundation" for improvement in later installments)
3. Haymaker fests (Learn to block)
4. Pacquaio and Ali entering the ring to dipset (?)
5. Overdone KO animations (By slow motion of the face jiggling?)
6. Horrible online lag (Never really experienced this but I was on 360 during those days)
7. Button vs. TPC online = Button punches landing faster (Gotta love buttons!)
8. You win belts, but you never see them (True but you don't see the ref in the new one)
9. Limited arenas (I am sure taking a chance on a new type of game they aren't going to get the rights to every stadium in the world...)
10. No type of authentic boxing presentation. (Compared to what Knockout Kings or Ready to Rumble boxing? Your on crack!)

Please go on cause I mean this was their first try at a new boxing experience!

Oh yea, and don't forget about your ringwalk with the flame boiled BURGER KING. That was lame.

I'm questioning whether or not you've actually played the demo because the ref's are there whenever something happens... like a point deduction or the introduction (yea there's real introductions, that were absent in Round 3). The only time you'd see the ref in FN3 was when he was counting you out.

10. No type of authentic boxing presentation. (Compared to what Knockout Kings or Ready to Rumble boxing? I'm not being scarcastic, I really wanna know because you kind of lost credibility with that statement. Go look up Lonsdale and Grant and see if they're in FN3.... He11 even Nike. They didn't even enter the ring wearing robes, or with a group of trainers in Round 3.... and like I said, the belts were imaginary.... but yea, that's authentic LMAO

I know it does, I just can't get into it that way. I tried trust me i'm a big big boxing fan and really want to get a good boxing game. Its just something about the stick that doesn't appeal to me. I got the early demo for pre ordering round 4, I tried and tried and tried and it just doesn't do it for me. I like to try new things but this is one that i just don't like

oh and no buttons oh no, not good! if the controls are bad, then the game is bad overall. fnr4 will be a rent for me. I was a fnr3 fan, that was my game online and yes i was one of those jab queens.

AHA, now it's clear. It's the button mashing brigade that don't like FNR4

I never used the buttons on FNR3; why would you when you've got TCP?

And Dirk504 is right, there are so many problems with FNR3; the ridiculous store for one thing; I hope this new version has separated out the boxing kit from the abilities. I hated having to buy particular kit in order to get a punch boost.

Also, the online side on FNR3 was appalling.

There was an early demo released for those who reserved. The demo is now available everywhere on PSN and Live.

If you want to know more about the game, you can come to the IGN forums. The guys there are really cool and we're really into the sport. The producers also pop in from time to time and share new info with us.
