I actually think the series has a Tim Burton type feel. It's very melancholy. The thing is that I don't see this being an animated film with his style. And if he made it live action, it would probably star Helena and Johnny. I love them, but I don't see them as characters from the series.

I remember reading the books in primary school all those years ago. It's a shame that the rest of the stories didn't get film adaptations.

I completely agree. The cinematography in this is absolutely beautiful. The guy who has been working with Malick for his recent releases did the DP.

I couldn't agree more....it felt like a cousin to the Addams Family movies, though I know they are completely unrelated...

Yeah but I'm in the UK not the USA. So at least the German one is region B

Makes sense... IF there was a region-free version I might have imported it already myself. I was glad to see the US release finally coming this year.
