From the first day I could afford it, this was my subwoofer of choice. Unassuming at first - a 200W amplifier, a 10" driver - a 1'-0" cubed, sealed enclosure. "Why, what's so powerful about this?" Everything.

A size that similarly capable subwoofers turn green with envy to have, a size that some of your wives would love - yet with the power, speed, and depth to handle more than just your one-note bass. Scenes come alive with the Dynamo like you wouldn't understand. Reverberations, explosions, roaring wind, gunfire retorts, roars, crashing waves - you name it. Each has its distinct note. A common misconception is that bass is about shaking your foundations and breaking down your walls. I want to clarify that THIS is not the case. Sure, I can do this with my Dynamo. But what you want is the clarity - and I would love to add a second one of these to even out the effects of standing waves and provide an even low-frequency range to the entire room. So you can have your Sherman-sized subwoofer. I'll take that same performance and put it into a BMW M3 frame.

Highly recommended. I should also note that I do not use the LFE In, I use the Right/Left Ins - provides a little dB increase in output. Again, this is wired with BlueJeansCable coaxial shielded cables.

If only people bother to read half of the information that is already there, I will be very happy. Some of us have spent a great deal of our time creating some of these threads. My only compensation comes from the members reading these threads and learning something from them.

Default Martin Logan Dynamo

Hey Everyone. I just picked up the Martin Logan Dynamo from Best Buy and something strange happened. In a good way. On their website and at the store it is advertised as 649.99. When I paid for it, however, it rang up as 571.98. On the receipt it says Martin Logan 8 inch forward or downfiring subwoofer. Since I know that they don't make the Dynamo in an 8 inch, they must have mislabeled it. So needless to say, the Best Buy in Pembroke Pines must have all the Dynamos mislabeled and can be had for basically 20% off MSRP.

Congrats on the new sub...Its going to make a signifigant improvement in your HT setup. I was just in BB and they sale guy was demoing one for someone. I was pleasantly surprised how accurate and clean it sounded.A very distinct sound.

BTW I had my bachelor party in PB...Is Scarletts still there? Brings back memories. haha

Excellent, another Dynamo user!

Scarlet's Cabaret is more in Hallandale Beach,

I lived from age 12-19 in Broward...ah, my teenage years...

Just wait a week or two for the ol' boy to get broken in - then add your review here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=82682

But I love my little Dynamo.

I will definitely add my review. How do you have your sub facing? Front or Down?

Front. What you might find that, if you have it on tile, its so light and powerful making it face down will make it hop around like a jackrabbit. I've had it front-firing since. Dunno if now with the decoupler on it'll make it any different, I've never bothered to change it back to down. If you have it on carpet though, it shouldn't be an issue. Use the spikes.

Audio Advisor makes the same mistake. They show it as an 8" subwoofer.
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo...umber=MLDYNAMO

At Amazon, they don't show the price, but when you add it to cart, it shows $571.12 + No Sales Tax + Free Shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/MartinLogan-DY...3209461&sr=8-1

Audiophile Liquidator is not a factory authorized and reputable dealer and they show it for $481.95.

I was thinking having it front firing would probably be a little cleaner with a little less thump. I will have it on carpet. I guess it will be a trial and error type of night.

Mess with phase, too. It makes a difference. Whole bunch of toying for you. Get a y-splitter if you can.

I have the DYNAMO (original 10" one) and I love it, the only downside to it is when it's in front firing mode the power cable tends to fall out the bottom somewhat often.

Well my sub died like 3 months ago and ML has been giving me the run around about sending out the new power supply so I can repair it, I probably won't buy any more of their products after this.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slaughter, my original 10" Dynamo died 2 months ago, and Dana over at ML has been telling me their suppliers haven't given them power boards yet. I keep getting dates pushed back and back.

My Dynamo died in moving somehow, but it's an identical issue. I loved the sub, used it in downfiring mode and it was a beast - but I have a nice black box now that I can do nothing with.

I can't fault them for issues their suppliers are having, though.

Turning down ML over this issue is a mistake if you plan on buying their electrostats one day, I will say. But I surely won't get another sub!

I just expected them to handle the whole situation a lot better, waiting over 3 months for a warranty replacement is unacceptable. I spent a lot of money on this thing and I didn't do anything to break it... it just stopped working one day out of the blue, I noticed I wasn't getting much LFE and that the light on the sub wasn't on. If most manufactures can't repair or replace their products in a timely manner in situations like this then they usually replace it with a like model (though I do not want a DYNAMO 500, heard bad things about them).

I would love to have some Electrostats, but I am weary on buying them now because I have seen how ML handles stuff like this and I would be even more pissed this were the same situation with a pair of speakers that cost even more. It makes me mad that I recommended my friend to a pair of the Motion 12s right before this happened.

Have you tried getting a replacement? I'd get one, then sell it.

I'm already getting a new sub - I was planning on keeping the Dynamo if they ever fixed it for the bedroom.

What have you tried, what have you been telling them? I haven't e-mailed Dana since he told me "Nov 1" and now it's Nov 17.

I wouldn't even mind a DYN300.
