well In my Opinion
i have read this statement on many website's now about what he said, and i do not doubt that in some effect that is what he is trying to relate to the development life of a system.

Sony has made their systems with the long haul over time direction. and the more technology advances the faster you have to update the technology,"if you want to keep up with the jone's if you will", anyway i do think by designing the PS3 the way they at Sony had the viability for advancement with software would have suffered in the long term it may not have but i tend to agree with it because the faster someone can take advantage of the hard ware it slow's the growth of that developer "no challenge".

Security was a pretty good priority, Pmac stated what Quite a bit of thing's that Sony was not too happy about. the PSP security is One of the Big Reason's you can see why Sony may have went in the direction they Did With the PS3.

The PSP software rip's are Quite a large number now. And i think that was one of the thing's, that may have Set Sony Back to look at security issue's with the PS3 off the Bat, UMD was a good defense against pirates, but the Rip Dump software got arround that.

Blu-Ray was a good defense against pirate's, but the design in the defense in the PS3 also its cost has kept Pirates at Bay Some have even tried to hack the system because of the Firmware updates to the system, and Sony's constant update to the security of the PSP, is keeping that in mind's eye.

sure there will be hacker's no doubt about it. but when one system cost $400.00 not too many hacker's want a go at a chance to kill their unit, compared to the cost of the PSP . the PSP is a hacker's low cost alternative, a ps2 an xbox, a xbox360, a Wii are better to hack just on the cost alone, the PS3 stop's some hacker's.
