Not looking at the 685's anymore???? I'd suggest calling some other dealers (even if they're a lot further away) just to find out the going rate.......

What speakers were you listening to?

As far as the stands, I looked at my 686s, and they're flat/smooth on the bottom, so no threading like my other fronts, so I wouldn't get those stands anyways.... may want to talk to the dealer to see what they recommend.

I don't know if you have them available to you, but try the Partington Ansa 60 Stands, they're a great match for the 686/685s

Not looking at the 685's anymore???? For the home theater set up I was originally looking at it was going to cost me about 900 for speakers Alpha PSB T's and B1's.

Now the 685's are going to cost me $ 2000 or more yikes. That was more than I wanted to spend but they are the best speaker I have ever heard. Now I am looking at bigger fronts.

I don't make a whole hell of a lot of money, so that's why I was looking at the cheaper PSB set up. Because I still live at home I thought my parents were going to say something about spending that kind of money on speakers. But instead my Dad said " I don't give a s*** what you spend your money on, it's your money. I'm just glad your not pi**ing it away at the bar." god I love my dad.

The only thing now is I will be running every thing through these speakers TV, Music, PS3 games, if I go on line I will put the sound directly through my TV and Blu Ray's of course, don't worry if I get these baby's I definatly will not play MP3 through them.

Now I am worried about dirty noise on any of the sources because if I F up a speaker 5.1 system that costs $ 700 I don't really care but if I F up 802 D fronts that cost twice that much per pair, you will hear George Carlins 7 words you can't say on TV in Detroit.

Uh.... the 802d's cost about $16,000 per pair..... so quite a bit more than you're thinking!

Canada,

If you don't have the money, don't do it. Stick to the small PSB's. They are great speakers. There is no reason to put yourself in financial difficulty.

I never think I would learn money allocation from auditioning one pair of speakers. But guess what I did, I am about 300% more confedent I'm almost cocky now.

I have them home now and have listened to them. One of the best in home investments I'll make. Because my parents still have 800 A Bostons sitting down by our dryer not being used. My dad always say's that I listened to Dire Straits before we (Dad and Mum) bought them. They resently had to be refoamed because the rubber got old and deteriorated, but after 20 years of listening to them that's to be expected.

I am still in hospital I had a weekend at home but was cleaning up my room. My dad had to find a metal shelf because the center is huge. The center is on some carpet under lay to put the center on so it would not vibrate the metal shelving.

Pictures coming soon promise!
