The service from this company was awesome. They had the order ready to ship in about 1hr. I received this (12" 500 watt sub) last monday and then was gone all week on biz. Over the weekend I was able to really dial it in and get plenty of time to listen. This sub is awesome time will only tell on the durability but, right now I am definitely sold. It is warm tight and smooth. It doesnt blat or fart, just warm base. I will definitely order another today to fill the room a little better, and because i am a gear head and cant help it

I havent any regrets for buying this sub, if you are on a budget and want a great sounding sub, this is it.

Congratulations. What color did you buy? With a second one, you will definitely get more uniform bass across the room. I hope everything works out. Don't forget to post pictures.

I will try to update pictures in my gallery later, but for now I just want to give a small review of the Sub I just got.

HD-SUB10 Black:
At first, I was slightly unsure about the subs power, but since then I have been able to play with it and adjust the settings and do the Calibration and test tones and what not.

Coming from a Sony Sub I was used to a muddier sound (that is how I will describe it) very rumbly and boomy. It took me a few Blus and DVDs to get used to the new sub and its sound. Most recently I put in my favorite Blu-ray Casino Royal, I am completly familiar with it so I put in up to the part at the beginning where the welding tanks explode and Wwwhhooooosssshhhhh, I was utterly amazed at how it carried the sound even past the screen shot of the explosion, something I never experienced before. Then when Bond drives the front loader into the building just before the scene I describe, it was thunderous. Transformers, in the city at the end where Jazz or whoever, does the flip and uses his Ion cannon or whatever as the rockets go past him and the bass goes all the way down, it didn't feel or sound like my sub was gonna POP it felt controled and tight, and it lingered longer then i was used to.

With both my Foo Fighters and Incubis blus, I played many of the songs I was used to and a variety of different types to hear a lot of things. The bass guitar rolled perfectly and the kick of the bass drum sounded like that of a mic'd up bass drum, punchy and full sounding.

I have the volume about 1/2-3/4's of the way up and it messes perfectly with all my new speakers. I must say that it is an excellent Sub, definetly worth the $158 I paid and if it allows, I would even get a second one.

Customer Service was excellent, the sub was nicely packed and double boxed for added measures I am sure, they tracking numbers were accurate and they even told me when it was delivered via email. Included was the owners manual, a red & white cable, plus an adapter (1M/2F) to put into your receiver so you can use the audio cable supplied.

Ordered the HD-SUB12 after reading Big Daddy's posts, as well as everybody else's. It will replace an 8" Polk that came in the RM6750 speaker package. The Polk is an OK sub, but newer soundtracks are bottoming it out (esp. The Dark Knight and Serenity to name a few). I can't wait to get the HD-SUB12 hooked up as soon as it arrives.

Reading this topic, it appears that you dont think there is much difference in the HD series and the Audiophile. I can only find the size of the amp and the warranty. There is three to choice from, and I dont see what the additional cost is.

HD-SUB12 $199

RW-SUB12 $139

The HD-Sub is front-firing and the other two are down-firing. In addition, HD-SUB has a bigger amp, comes in three colors, better warranty, and much better looking. In general, it costs more to build a front-firing sub because of the grille and aesthetics.

So in your opinion, well worth the additional $60?

*I was actually looking for a down-firing sub, the HD version appears to not be able in this option

IN MY OPINION, THE GOOD LOOKS AND ADDITIONAL POWER WAS WELL WORTH THE $60. I DID NOT WANT A BLACK SUBWOOFER. HOWEVER, IF YOU LIKE DOWN-FIRING AND BLACK SUBWOOFERS, YOU GET VERY GOOD VALUE FOR THE OTHER TWO MODELS.

Just an FYI on the down-firing subs, mine (see posted pics on page 2 of this thread) was very close to the floor (carpeting). I couldn't slide my index finger under the rim of the woofer.
I bought and installed a set of black Dayton adjustable spikes and now have them lifted up another ~3/4".
There is a noticeable difference.

Many people report better bass response by raising their subwoofers. You can buy the Gramma Isolation Riser for $50. I beleive DobyBlue owns one. Alternatively, you can easily make one.

Hey Big Daddy, it's called the Auralex GRAMMA, not GRANDMA. Is there a cheap way to make one that could go under my carpet samples or something? Thanks.

With all the horrendous misspellings on this forum, I am allowed to call the DIY version Grandma Risers to avoid any possible copyright violations.

I am thinking about building one myself. I hate going to Home Depot. Every time I come back, I need to take a shower.

Oh but of course! Why don't you make a cool looking DIY version with WAF? Since my sub is in the middle of the room now, I want it to look nice and neat.

You need to connect your subwoofer cable to the subwoofer pre-out on your receiver first. Then connect it to either the left or right (red or white) inputs on your subwoofer. Be sure to make sure the connections are tight. You may want to run the auto-calibration system on your receiver as well to ensure the subwoofer is set to on and is calibrated for your placement.
