Judging from the price of the Endo-skull it's safe to assume that a limited HEAD with the set is going to be included...

Same here. Almost gave in with all the sales and everything, but I figured they had to re-release it somehow. Hopefully it'll be a much better improvement and worth the wait.

Depending on what the Skull looks like, I might go ahead and get that as a collectors piece for a shelf, and then throw the original T2 disk away putting the new disk in my old case. This way the movie stays in my collection and got a cool skull to show off.

Hmm
I wont be very happy if the regular T2 BD US rerelease will be same or better then the Jap Steel as I paid £50 for that and if U waited I could have got it for so much less. So fingers crossed it aint as good as the Jap release.

I doubt the endo skull is a steelbook, its most likely a replica T800 head.

The Japanese disc is AVC already. TrueHD, a 35mbps compression done by Panasonic, and packed with bonuses.

Just please don't expect any miracles on T1. I'm sure Lowry will pull everything they can out of it, but I hope they remember that sometimes less is more, especially in the future scenes where there's a lot of rear projection

I know that Jeff

I am not expecting miracles on T1 or T2, I am sure both of them will be GREAT !!

and thanx for all info in insider thread !! and I am glad that T1 and T2 are coming in much better shape !!

Marek

P.S. for me is quite cheaper to get movies to Slovakia from US then from Japan, that's why I am happy

I've already double dipped on T2. First US edition, then UK. Interestingif the newone is worth upgrading from UK release.

P.S. So, does the ES version really come with the skull?

Hmmm, I wonder if Warner is gonna be gearing up the 3rd one to come out around the release of 4th in theaters, release of 4th on Blu-ray, or no re-release at all for a few years? I'd think surely they would not only want to capatilize on the new movie buzz but also make the audio lossless on it. Here's hoping!

If that's the case then it seems as though it would be wise to put each cut of T2 on its own disc and sell it at a higher price. I would happily pay a premium for an excellent T2 Blu-ray release, but I won't buy it unless I'm assured that the PQ and AQ look as good as possible. Terminator 2 already has a huge fanbase and most of those people are more likely to enjoy new technology and invest in it, therefore it shouldn't be difficult to justify a caring and complete presentation of the film on Blu-ray, especially with the new Terminator film around the corner.

I think you're jumping to conclusions about the quality just based on the fact that seamless branching is challenging

Panasonic, arguably the best compression house out there when it comes to challenging projects, and experts on seamless branching (for the longest time their DVD authoring package was the only one that could do it, and they did the original T2:UE) managed to do it in 35GB for both cuts using the same master.

I really wouldn't be too concerned about quality. Virtually all of the complaints about the Japanese disc are inherent issues in the film.

New Terminator 2 Releases Confirmed
Posted February 20, 2009 03:46 PM by Josh Dreuth

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will release 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Skynet Edition' to Blu-ray on May 12th. Additionally, Lionsgate will release the 'Limted Edition T2 Complete Collector's Set', a six disc set which will feature the Blu-ray release of the film along with Extreme Edition DVD and Ultimate Edition DVD versions of the film and a digital copy.

Technical specs have not been detailed at this time, though you can expect the typical 1080p AVC and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Extras, which span over eight hours, include quizzes, games, featurettes, and more.
Boo-ya.

Just as long as the BD will have the Extended Special Edition, it will!
