I think the reviews should be taken with a pound of salt. This series has never been about much more than blood and gore.

Seeing it friday. Can't wait. I'm glad it was screened for critics, means that the studio has some confidence behind it.

I would agree! Rambo 2008 got trashed by those geeks, and it is a great action movie.

That's a bold guarantee. It doesn't look very good.

It looks like every other Friday the 13th, which means I'm guaranteed to like it. It's going to be an oldschool slasher movie, plain and simple. If someone doesn't like them, they really have no business seeing it, because they're just begging for a reason to complain.

I'll be seeing this on Sunday. Can't wait, looks great imo and I can't wait to get the uncut version on BD. As far as the reviews go, I'm sure they'll mostly be negative. Looking at RT, the TCM remake was only in the 30's and TCM:TB got a 13. I enjoyed both of those movies and am sure I'll love this one that much more.

.... Wow -- I don't get how one enjoy something where there is paper-thin caricatures (not characters), a mega-predictable-plodding plot and actions and/or turns taken that simply defy all laws of physics and logic. Plus... Jason Vorhees is now a pot-farmer... I mean, seriously...?

Typical, glossy, empty, conglom-bred camp. There's very good reasoning behind all of Platinum Dunes' movies' low critic-scores.

Can someone please help me? Is this Friday the 13th a remake of the original or simply another installment with the same name as the first? I orignally heard it was a remake of the first 13th but am seeing "Jason" in the previews. Wasnt it only the mother doing the killings in the first one? not jason?

Well, it's one of the main reasons why I advocate having several different movie critics for several different types of movies.

I mean, would you trust a movie critic that doesn't like horror movies to give you a synopsis of a horror movie? No.

Side Note: This movie is not a direct-sequel or a continuation of the original series -- whether one wants to call it a remake or reboot it is a "fresh start."

And hopefully this fresh start will continue down this path and not go down the path Post Part 4.

I am glad they are focusing on the first 4 with bits that are new and fresh. I have my tix and my buddy who runs the Regal here screened it last night at 1 AM. I plan on calling him soon to find out how it was. I will post it when I find out.

He is a HUGE fan of the series!
