Default Terminator!!!

I have never seen any of the Terminators. I just saw the preview for the new one when I went to see Watchmen, and it looks awesome. I wanna catch up on the other movies, are they any good, should I skip any, like do I need to watch others to know whats going on in this one? I like Christian Bale as an actor, so that is also why I want to see the new one.

T3 definetly wasn't as good as the others imo, and T2 was the best, but they're all worth seeing.

I still prefer the original Terminator...T2 was cool for the time, but I can't get past that damn kid...ruins the movie for me every time.

+1. I don't see why everyone is so in love with T2. For me, I actually think T2 might be my least favorite out of all 3.

^How could T2 be your least favorite. That's your opinion and I gotta respect that. I saw T2 in the theater and I had to sit on the floor...it was that packed...and for it's time it was revolutionary. It's no wonder it's on everybody top "must-have" list. It's just a classic.

Edward didn't bother me for the most part, but there were definitely some rough patches ("no escape but what we make for ourselves"...that line makes me cringe everytime I hear him say it). I used to think he should have continued on as John Conner, but now I see why they went with someone else.

The Terminator was classic but T2 (IMO) is the ultimate action flick. The whole movie is entertaining, has a easy to follow plot, outstanding special effects (not just for 1991, some were better than today's effects), bits of humor throughout to cut the action tension (teaching the Terminator to smile!). T3, not quite the best and could easily be forgettable but, unfortunately, it is a must see before seeing the new one as things in Salvation reference T3.

Overall, James Cameron should have done all 4 movies. Look at the other movies he's made:

Aliens - Classic, great action flick
Titanic - Besides highest grossing movie ever, is a solid movie with a good story.
The Abyss - Classic, easily recognizable
True Lies - Great Arnie spy action, hilarious storyline.

Terminator 2 is better than Terminator and Terminator 3 is why I will not be seeing Terminator 4.

I've seen all. I did not like Edward Furlong as John Connor. I was like kill that little bastard. I'm hoping that Terminator Salvation can work without T2 and T3. T2 was good but ole Edward ruined it for me. The Terminator is a classic. Hopefully there will be a re-release on blu-ray and the movie will be cleaned up really well as good as Blade Runner.

Yes watch all of them, and you will probably like them but I have a feeling you might not like them for the same reasons you're hyped for Salvation... but it will give you a better perspective. (although technically Salvation could be watched first because it is a prequel set in the future before traveling to the past)
