I think once the scratch is visible it's all the way down to the bare metal you'll make it worse by trying to rub a chemical on the finish. That's what I think. So maybe I answered my own question if there's a "clear coat" on the finish
Hey Mike,

You sure know alot about cars (and I am NOT referring to the upcoming Futureshop steelbook!). So what do you drive?

Don't laugh. I have a 2007 Honda Element (the Nighthawk Black Pearl version). The thing has a tremendous amount of interior space; perfect for hauling dozens of Snow White and Up steelbooks.

Okay - so we can't use car wax on a steelbook to get a light scratch out. What about peanut butter? I read (on a Honda Element forum) that peanut butter really works.

But of course, who wants a car -- or a steelbook -- that smells like peanuts. I suppose it's better than smelling like farts.

I had The Dark Knight with a dent at the bottom left, sold it for $45 on ebay a couple weeks ago.

He drives an 05 Acura TL-Aspec. It is quite true that he knows a lot about detailing, and is quite anal about scratches and such. It was really quite frustrating when we were dating because he will park ALL the way out away from the location, then if someone parked next to him he has to lean over etc to make sure they didnt make a ding...

I wonder is Zaino's CS would help cover the scratches... it is non-abrasive, a spray and has a really nice shine.. hmm...

I don't think I would use peanut butter either, because it really is not all that smooth... I would think it would still be abrasive...

It's all good! You drive a Honda

Yeah I don't go on the car detailing forums like I used to since I spend my time here, so I'm learning about SB's and I'm quite as anal!

Any damaged steelbooks that i have and dont want, i put them up in ebay with a starting bid of 0.99 and let it go for however much it goes for. Better than tossing it in the garbage.

I just returned my damaged Ratatouille to FS for a full refund. Good thing I had an "insurance copy" to mitigate Future Shops wholly inadequate packaging.
