Has anyone seen Sam Raimi's latest work?

Basically bent the book series The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind over and sodomized it.

Why should he? The two movies have nothing to do with each other, save the characters themselves. There isn't supposed to be any continuity.

Oh, Edward Norton . . . the guy who played Banner.

replace maguire with joseph gordon-levitt and dunst with amy adams. hire a writer just for spidey's witty dialogue. raimi's spidey has been flat. he never says anything funny. get the guy that wrote spider-man's dialogue from the 90's fox animated series or get brian bendis who's writing new avengers to do it. he gets spidey. but please replace maguire. even when he tries to say something funny it comes off as flat. kraven the hunter should be the villain with connors finally becoming the lizard.

You're absolutely right. The Peter Parker/Spider-man dynamic just hasn't been pulled off quite right. Peter's personality does a 180 when he's in the costume and they need to capture that on screen. Maybe a separate writer just for that would contrast the difference enough to make it work. But I agree that Maguire seems flat as Spidey himself. I like Maguire as an actor and have enjoyed him in his other roles. I also believe he's the reason people were able to take Spider-man as a movie seriously. I just feel he's not a great fit as Peter Parker/Spider-man.

word for word. I refuse to believe Tobey is the best Peter Parker available. He's not witty or charismatic enough for my tastes. Definitely with you on the CGI. It's awful and cheap looking. The effects in Spidey 2 look dated nowadays.

Raimi can be replaced. He's a good director, but he's not a good Spider-Man director IMO.

I think Spiderman 3 wasnt all that bad. The only thing that irritated me was having to listen to Kirsten Dunst sing! I say dump her if anything! Anyway.....from what I was told and read is Sony is giving Raimi all the control he wants and thats good because now we will get back to what made Spiderman 1 and 2 so good.

The lack of Venom.

I completely agree. Typically I'd say Gyllenhaal because he looks like Maguire, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt is just a better actor and could do more with the role. I only wish they could get rid of Mary Jane entirely so Bryce Dallas Howard's Gwen Stacy could replace her (I think they've done as much as they can with the Peter-Mary Jane relationship at this point without repeating themselves).

Rehire the screenwriter of Zodiac. Don't let Raimi write this one either. You can't blame the mistakes Raimi made on studio pressure to "insert Venom here" throughout the script. Nothing went right. Give the material to someone who doesn't have to resort to melodrama every five minutes.

Mary Jane was a narcissist. Harry was a dim-wit. Eddie Brock Jr was relegated to comic relief for most of the film. The closest thing to a likable character in the film was the Sandman. In the whole of the film, the only decent scene (in the church at the end) is already shown in the trailer anyway. This would be like blaming Batman & Robin's complete failure on the studio wanting Schumacker to insert Batgirl and Bane. It was only one of several problems with this movie.

The third Spider-Man film was good, but I've never liked them too much. I've never liked the actor, but I guess he looks like Peter Parker enough.

Hear hear, guess we're the only ones. It did have its silly moments but the camaraderie and the fight scenes made up for that. IV is already my most anticipated movie of 2011 but that's not saying much.
