It's bad enough that I die like every other minute, but the load screen is almost as long as my gameplay.

I'm really discouraged now. I honestly beat the Cleric Beast on my first attempt without really even trying. That made me think I was going to cruise through this. I have been getting owned by this game ever since. I couldn't beat Father Gascione by myself. I can't beat the Blood Starved Beast after numerous attempts. The first phase is easy, like the Father. Obvious tells. One attack can be parried and riposted for major damage. But the enraged poison form is just too fast for me. I soloed Demon's, Dark I and Dark II. This is a wholly different beast.

I gave up on Beast for now and went and opened the gate, killed some guys, then quit for the night to watch a Bond movie from my 50th Anniversary set. Something for when the wife is not home.

On the father my tactic was to run up the stairs once he starts coming up use the extended axe and hit em with holding r2 run back run around rinse and repeat, the rest of it I
use molotov the rest the way.

Don't solo this game anymore. Summon when you can. It's just not fun by yourself.

The sad thing is, I'm a bit discouraged too. I just don't find it all that interesting. Souls had such compelling lore and universe building, and this ones just kind of... There.

but I agree I've never played a souls game, but this game is extremely difficult. I'm not that far in it.

I just killed Blood starved Beast and Vicar Amelia tonight. I died a whole bunch on BSB especially, several times when he was just a few hits from dead he would catch me in his stupid poison grab bite thing and it was one and done. That's when I started grinding. Grinded out probably 10 levels from what I had before and they both went down within a few attempts after that. You'll get it.

I'm at level 34 through extreme patience going back & forth through the campfire area & back to Hunter's Dream. I only killed the first boss but have noticed every other enemy is a walk in the park since leveling up. I've actually explored quite a bit because of that.

The load screen does suck. I am gonna get back at grinding Echoes. I bet by the time I get to this dreadful second boss, I'll cake walk it first attempt. lol

I'm actually loving the game's setting and lore. I'm a horror nut, though, so the setting is completely up my alley, with its lovecraftian themes and crazy gothic architecture. It was almost as if the design team extracted everything my mind thinks is cool and threw it into the game. Ah well, guess it's different strokes for different folks.

[Show spoiler]Fire paper made her second form much more beatable. I killed her with about six or seven slashes with my fire-imbued saw cleaver. I went from doing about 70 damage to a great deal more than that (I can't remember specifically, but it was 2 or 3 times higher than what I was doing before.
I beat the Beast on the 2nd try. Got my co-op partner killed, but he was a bit more daring than I am.

Some users on Gaf seem to think that carrying around extra insight ups the difficulty. It may or may not be true, but either way, I think I'm going to try to keep it around 10 or so, just in case.

The bell thing has to go, not working for me at all. Three times I tried to summon help and it took my insight and crashed to the main menu. I use my bell to help someone else out and it just searches endlessly. Only place I can view tombstones is inside hunters dream. They should have just left summoning signs alone, they worked great.

I'm on this weekend and will hopefully have my bell if anyone wants to tag team a few bosses?

Both players must fight, no cowering in the corners

Derb, Gamma, etc? I'm spending tonight and some of the morning boosting some level and probably taking down
[Show spoiler]Cleric Beast
.

Sure I'll help.

I've watched some PowerPyx YouTubes.

Let's just say those who think they'll get by without hitting some high levels are in for a rude awaking-in. They have 13 bosses up now, all done solo!

Anyone using the Kirk Hammer? Is it effective against the 2nd boss?

I tried a bit of it. The axe is much better. The Kirk Hammett uses too much stanama & the sword part isn't as good as the threaded cane.

Speaking of the Kirk, you need strength of 16 to hold it & the one stat I noticed leveled up more then any other was "strength" in the YouTubes.

Looks like today will be more grinding for Echoes.

Funny. That's been my experience as well. Although I'm not one with much patience so hopefully I get better.

I’m kind of surprised to hear how high level a lot of people are (into the 30s). I heard this is a 30-40 hour game, I can’t imagine a lot of you are through most of the game. Does the game have a high expected level cap?
