this is correct but if you really enjoy this film you should order the UK edition. Not only is is subtitle corrected but it includes a fascinating director and novel's author/screenwriter that's worth it. Price is fairly low also. Just a suggestion.

For anyone whom was waiting to pick this up due to the Subtitle Mishap on some versions. It seems like the Theatrical versions have finally trickled down into retail stores. I had been waiting to order or pick this up until I could check a copy out beforehand to assure it had the Theatrical subtitles. The East Madison Best Buy finally had copies in today that have the Theatrical subtitles, YMMV, but it seems like the good versions are reaching the retail stores finally.
Very excited to check this out tonight, (finally!). ![]() |

I bought this blu-ray a while ago. It was a blind buy. I would like to find out if I have the correct version. Would someone tell me what to look for? If I have the incorrect subtitled version, would magnolia send me a replacement disc?
thanks |

Not sure about a replacement disc but you want to look on the back of the cae and look where it mentions subtitles and if it say's "SUBTITLES:ENGLISH(Theatrical), SPANISH" then you have the corrected disc.

No dice on a replacement per Magnolia a while back. Your copy must say "English (Theatrical), Spanish" in the subtitles box on the back cover, if it just says "English, Spanish", then you have the incorrect disc. Since Magnolia will force you to buy another copy anyway, I would suggest ditching them and going for the UK disc, which has an exclusive director/author commentary and HD video extras (PAL photo gallery however).

I would def. get the UK version if you don't have this movie. The American special features are crappy as hell. I also prefer the UK cover. But it's an incredible film, and I think everyone should see it IMO.

There's a new note on the Amazon page (added in the last few days) for the film reading- "Subtitle Details: This product features the theatrical version of English subtitles." So I'm assuming they've gotten enough people writing in about it that they're only selling the copy with the corrected subtitles. Or they just ran out of the older versions...
I've been holding off on buying this film for a long time now. I finally placed the order and it'll arrive tomorrow. Hopefully it's the right one. UPDATE: Recieved copy with corrected subtitles. Well worth owning on Blu-ray, such an incredible film. Last edited by ozzsoad; 06-13-2010 at 04:28 PM. |

I've waited more than a year for this because I did not want to chance getting the inferior subtitles. Im happy this has been finally fixed (at least on amazon). ![]() |

Best bet is to return it where you purchase it. |

If I don't plan on watching with Subtitles does it matter? I was going to get this and watch it English dubbed. I can get the U.S> Subtitle version for only $5. Or is there something more to the edition that has Theatrical Subtitles besides the Subtitles?

Get the "Theatrical Subtitles", it says so on the back of the case. The first release had horrible subtitles and all the nuances of the dialogue was thrown out, also if you were to get that release no replacement would be given to you for the corrected subs.
