Well...I weighed the other day, & yes I'm a BIG guy...I am under 300. For the first time in a loooong time. I knew & felt like I had lost from both how I felt & how my clothes were fitting.

I've dropped to under 295 now & I'm down 2 pants sizes!

Yeah...feels good.
congrats man

i am not too bad, but i weighed myself 3 1/2 weeks ago and was so disgusted to see i was 211 lbs (which i have never been that heavy in my life)

so i changed my diet and started working out at the club house at my condo. they have free weights, cable equipment, treadmill, olypticals and more. so i am happy to say that since then i have dropped 9 lbs so far and feeling pretty good. i still have a ways to go as my goal is about 180-185 lbs.

much luck to you

Congrats man, that is really great. I'm proud of you!

I have similar issue though quite the opposite. I'm trying to gain more weight and muscles. I weight about 85 kg or about 188 lbs. Trying to get to around 89kg or 196 lbs. It's actually really hard to gain more without it all ending up..well you know where.

That's been my problem in the past. Fortunately...so far...this time I haven't.

Congrats! It does feel good to lose weight.
About a year ago, I weighed 270 lbs. I now weigh 210 lbs.
Smaller portions will do it best. Eat what you want. Just eat less of it. It's hard at first, but your stomach will shrink, and it will take less to make you feel full. You get used to it, and lose weight. I'm gonna have to buy new clothes soon...........

Let me introduce to my doctor, Dr. Nguyen

For the last few years, I have been following his advise...

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually.. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NO LISTEN! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

I lost 50lbs in 3 months by making small changes:

Started drinking my coffee black.
No chips/chocolate binges.
No eating after 10pm.
Never skip breakfast.
Smaller portions.
Limit the fried food (2 pieces of fried chicken instead of 6...lol)

I also worked out about 4 times a week. I'd alternate between cardio one day (1 mile on the treadmill) and strength 1 day (30 minutes of dumbbells).

With these changes I went from a 38 inch waist to 34 inch. My weight went from 240 to 190lbs. Even though I haven't worked out at all for the last 4 months now I've been able to maintain my weight. I plan to start working out again to lose another 20lbs.

Good luck with your weight loss but remember as guys we do not need to go on a diet. Eat what you want...but realise that our stomachs are only about the size of a fist. It doesn't take too much food to fill them.

That is great! I have done this before, lost weight, but never made it a life change. Weight always comes back with interest. Now 230lbs, 40" waist, 6' tall.

Trying to start healthy eating. Usually breakfast is coffee and I don't eat until 12:30, with work I don't eat again till 7:30.

Ate breakfast today, Special K and skim milk. Missed the snack. Had turkey, Monterey Jack, lettuce, mayo (a little) and mustard on a tortilla for lunch at 1:00. Also drank 3 cups of coffee and 1 glass of water.

Need to have a snack before dinner, probably some raisins, craisins and almonds. Bought big bags at Costco and mix them together. Almonds are from the baking goods section, no salt.

Cut carbohydrates whenever possible. Many people, including most highly overweight people, are very sensitive to carbs adding weight.

Been eating breakfast, and a snack at 4:00. Before, I only ate lunch and a late dinner, and sometimes junk food on the weekend while watching BDs. Also gave up fast food, except one day a week (Friday is the night all bets are off) gotta do it to keep my sanity. Anyway, lost 2 kgs in about two weeks. 16 more to go. Was 104, now 102, looking for 86.

Will try to add some more biking and long walks since weather is getting cooler. Still focusing on making a life change for diet.
8:00 breakfast
12:30 lunch
4:00 snack
7:30 dinner

Will try to add another snack at 10:00 and a late night snack too. Also haven't been drinking enough water. But, drinking less beer and more red wine, tonight no booze.

Keep up the good work! I was nearly 300 lbs before. I got down to where I thought I was happy with my weight, and kind of let it go for a while, so I wasn't weighing myself at all. I was still working out, but ate whatever I wanted. That was three years ago. I ended up having a minor health issue and had to see a doctor and was horrified to find I had gained 20 lbs. I was still well below what I started at though. So with that I just wanted to get back down to what I was, but when I reached that, I wasn't happy and kept going. Since February of this year, I have lost 60 lbs and am now down to 180. I want to lose about 5 more, but it gets really tough when you are close. This time I am making sure I keep it up.

If you have a minor setback, just keep going. Eventually you will get to where you want to be and feel much better for it.

Isn't that how Christian Bale lost all his weight for The Machinist?
