Sure the Infinity's sounded really nice, but they sounded good together with other Infinity's. In fact I may give my Infinity center and surrounds to my son-in-law who want's to start building an HT set up. He is currently building a new house and he's having it already pre-wired for this purpose.
Always upgrading huh? I don't intend to upgrade my 4 surround speakers (C-Series), but I bet if I had the RC series as my surrounds it would match with my RC-30 fronts and RC-LCR.

Hmm.. I wonder if there are any RC-10's available. I'm afraid to look because I know I'd probably do it.

Oh yea they are. Vann's has them for 279. They were promoting a 2nd day free shipping a few days before Christmas and I was able to jump in on that deal and got them in 2 days. Now I'm set up for a while.
I picked up a SPL meter from Radio Shack yesterday and performed a little tweak on speaker levels last night. I wound up increasing the db on my center and right front a little. I assume this thing is accurate but just don't know for sure.

Hmm... Have they ever been cheaper say like $150 a pair before? If I end up doing that then my (C-100) rear surrounds would be not be used, and I would move my C-200 from surrounds as rear surrounds making way for the RC-10 which will be my new surrounds.

I wanted to pick up the SPL meter from a Radio Shack but I'm using an SPL meter app on my iPhone.

Well, I figured I would drop in and see the meter and it was on sale for about 14 dollars so I went ahead and picked it up.
279 is the cheapest I've ever seen the RC-10 personally. I couldn't believe the difference it made having matching speakers all the way around.

Did you say $14 for an SPL meter? You think it's still available if I check out my local store when I get home? You can't beat that price because I think the ones they had were $50.

Yeah, it would be great to finally get some matching speakers. I wonder how that would sound. I though my C-C100 sounded bad ass with my front RC-30 but when I go the RC-LCR (same time with you), I was wrong in a good way!

Yea, it was 14 and some change. Of course you add the 5 dollars for a 9 volt battery and you wind up spending about 21 bucks after tax. It wasn't bad though. Remember it's the analog and not digital i bought. It seems to work ok, but I think it's registering 1 or 2 db below the actual db generated by the test tone.

I don't know. I'm now eying the RC-10's as surrounds. I think Vanns is offering an instant rebate of $20.

So with that being said. Here's my setup again.

RC-30 = Fronts
RC-LCR = Center
C-200 = Surrounds
C-100 = Rear Surrounds

Now if I end up getting the RC-10's. Where would it go? The surround speakers, or rear surrounds? If the RC-10's go to the Surrounds, would I just move the C-200 and use them as Rear Surrounds, or just continue to use the C-100 as Rear Surrounds? Would it make a difference by having a bigger speaker (C-200's) as Rear Surrounds?

Well, I have a 5.1 set up, so I'm obviously using mine as (side) surrounds. My first thought would be to use them as side surrounds so that they will blend more seamlessly with the front sound stage. that's just my opinion for what it's worth, however you could always try both ways and see what sounds best.

I can always do that. Gosh, I don't know. Maybe if I wait they'll be cheaper but then again it will be more rare to buy them.

Maybe Steve or Olivier can chime in.

Well, that's why I went ahead and jumped on them. Before long you will only be able to get them used.

How old is the RC series though? Maybe a couple of years old now and then Vanns is going out of business since they are having a liquidation sale.

It's just an end of year liquidation; they're not going out of business. They are just trying to get rid of their stock after Christmas.

yes side surrounds and swing the C-200 as back surrounds and sell the C-100

279$ is as good as it gets I would be surprised if they actually went lower, RC-10 are long gone in Canada they sold them on clearance at FS for 199$ that was 75% off retail.

I don't see the prices drop that low in the US.

They won't get lower than $279 new. You may find clearance items for around $250 but that will be hit or miss. And yes you should get another pair of RC10's. deep down we all know you want to and sooner or later will.

I had a hard time sleeping the first few mins last night as I was thinking about making the purchase on the RC-10's.

Anyway, I'm going to watch the prices closely. I'll hold off for now hoping they will go cheaper. I'll watch, Vanns, Amazon, and of course Ebay. I just can't make the purchase right now, but if I get $300 out of no where then I will

Also Mike, I see that the RC-LCR sells around $280 now over at Vanns. What did we both pay earlier this year? Like $350-$370 on Ebay?
