Why pages for NWR's worst film?

It does seem to appeal to cover art/slipcover/steelbook crowds, so I would say he was right on the money with his opinion. Also "I have to get me one of those jackets man!", those people. Also the people that have no idea what that Scorpion was inspired from.

I like the Chromatics though (and more so Glass Candy, who can be heard in Bronson) so I like NWR's music choices.

I'm a huge fan of Down by Law and just finished watching Mystery Train. I'm in love. What a fantastic little gem. I especially enjoyed the first and the last story.

I'm glad I waited for this one. I'll continue to wait for Ugetsu.
I'm actually a little surprised they didn't put them out in the same month.
Now I just have to wait for the next sale...

Mystery Train is a great film. I love the deadpan humor.

I compiled a definitive (I hope) list of OOP Criterion DVDs that have received Blu-ray editions elsewhere, for anyone that cares:

Grand Illusion
The Killer
Hard Boiled
This Is Spinal Tap
The Silence of the Lambs
Sid and Nancy
Robocop
Dead Ringers
The Long Good Friday
Time Bandits
Peeping Tom
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
Mona Lisa
Withnail and I
Rebecca
Spellbound
Notorious
That Obscure Object of Desire
Contempt
Straw Dogs
Port of Shadows
Ran
Forbidden Games
Kind Hearts and Coronets
The Fallen Idol

I think that's it, if anyone is aware of any others please let me know.

If you can get your hands on the Chromatics - Kill for Love album, I highly recommend it! It's a fascinating listen that is inspired by their work on the Drive soundtrack.

Although, my favorite line is delivered in the second part:

Dee Dee: Hey! Listen... They're ****ing.

After reading review for piña I don't think there is any reason to get the criterion over my German release unless i need the subs
I think the win wenders interview is exclusive but that's about it.
I might get the criterion if I could find a used copy for cheap to compare

just a though, if the movie is from germany and the making of/ interview is in german on the german disc, wouldn't that mean the making of and the interview are dubbed on the criterion one since they are in english

While the Criterion edition looks better (Not that the MoC looks bad by any kind of measure) I still think the MoC is a truly worthy release. Mizoguchi fans should get both. The Criterion has PQ and extras for it while the MoC has the booklet plus Gion Bayashi as well which should be a HUGE selling point for those who love Mizoguchi.

I'm starting to get behind on picking up many of these wonderful titles. And with more to be released later this year as well.

Me too, given up hope as far as playing catch up...and with Twilight Time's Christine and The Blob(1988) due out this year, I'll probably be getting a few more Twilight titles like Experiment in Terror and the two Flint films. I'll have to wait till hopefully July to get some of the next few month releases that I want...thank God for Hulu Plus right now...even though it is just streaming video and not as decent as the actually Blu. Watched Ministry of Fear the other night on my DVR from TCM...cannot wait to eventually own this film in my collection...love Lang!!!

Ivan's Childhood comes out tomorrow.

I have some cash on hand from trading in some old DVDs (I've been having fun streamlining my DVD collection as of recent.) and will be using that to pick up movies from Barnes & Noble tomorrow.

In order to take advantage of the "Buy Two, Get One Free" offer at Barnes & Noble, I have reserved copies of Ivan's Childhood, Last Year at Marienbad, and Red Desert. Three Criterions for roughly eighty bucks, minus the 10% member discount.

I did an in store reserve for Ivan's Childhood at Barnes also since I waited too long on the amazon pre-order and it is at 34.99 which is same as me buying it with my discount. I will prob only just grab two WB 19.99 titles for the B2G1F

Really excited for the film on BLU. I bought the DVD back when it was first released and I loved the film a lot. According to all the reviews it should look great.

I loved Drive, too. In my opinion Refn's direction was the best of the year.
