I’m fine with VIZ keeping the original Japanese credits, but I wish they included an English credit roll for each episode (or at least each disc) so the English cast can be properly credited at last. Some incidental roles are still unknown after all these years.

Viz is good at putting Japanese Credits but terrible at putting English Translated Credits making the Credits only for people who can read Japanese. They’re basically like Well if you want Japanese Credits we will sacrifice the English Credits. If you want English Credits we will sacrifice the Japanese ones.

Huh? Viz probably got the Toei masters originally and then screwed them up themselves when they tried to "remaster" it themselves.

Toei has a reputation for supplying subpar masters with some of their films, and some masters that were such bad shape that they couldn't be released at all. (Wolves, Pigs, and Men) is an example. However, it seems like it's becoming a thing of the past, hopefully.

It looks like Toei gave them the previous SD masters (likely the same ones used for the Italian Dynit and Australian Madman DVDs), but Viz took it upon themselves to “remaster” it in HD since Toei’s HD upscale didn’t exist yet. Toei probably mandated that all new releases use their new masters around the time they released SuperS.

In a perfect world, they’d just upscale the Italian DVD master and call it a day but oh well lol |

Could possibly see them putting the movie in the corresponding season's re-release, but yeah, if there wasn't a problem with the movie then I wouldn't see them bothering with a new version. Unless they just want to drop the DVD.

Pokemon Secrets of the Jungle hit Netflix last October and is releasing this October on Blu-ray. Who knows how long the delay is between streaming and physical but it doesn't always seem to be that bad.

It varies. Some things take many years and some only take 1 or 2 years.

Viz has also released the Castlevania Netflix series on Blu-ray so they might have an in with them in terms of video licensing.

The fact that Netflix got the Sailor Moon Crystal movies instead of VIZ makes me wonder if VIZ was even interested. Netflix also got JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Star Ocean and Tiger & Bunny S2, series where prior entries were licensed by VIZ. FUNimation also got Megalobox Nomad instead of VIZ.
